I have the Gen 3 Sub and can't recommend it enough. Get the 3 sub over the mini for sure. It's the same price right now. I have it paired with the Arc Ultra and the Era 100s as surrounds.
The Arc Ultra is better overall vs the Arc especially with dialogue but IMO, it's not worth the $400+ premium over the Arc soundbar at just $399
Sonos refurb deals here center on building a compact home theater with the Arc, Sub Gen 3, and Era 100s, with the strongest praise going to the soundstage, bass, and surround effect. The Arc and Sub combo is described as a big upgrade for living rooms and small rooms alike, and the Era 100s work well as surrounds or as a stereo pair. Refurb units repeatedly arrive looking new, often in sealed packaging, and carry the same one year warranty as new products. The main caution is that room size and acoustics matter, and the Sub Mini or Beam 2 can make more sense in smaller spaces.
Home theater buyers building a compact surround setup, because Arc, Sub 3, and Era 100s deliver convincing surround sound in smaller rooms.
Bedroom or small-room listeners who want a soundbar that stays balanced at close range, because Beam 2 sounds clearer than Beam 1 and works well in tiny spaces.
They often arrive looking brand new, sometimes even in sealed retail packaging with no visible wear. Several buyers reported refurbished Arc, Sub, and Era 100 units arriving packaged like new, with only minor signs of prior return use in rare cases.
Yes for most rooms: the Sub Gen 3 is only $10 more at $409 versus the refurb Sub Mini at $399, and it delivers noticeably more bass headroom. The Mini is still a good fit for smaller or medium rooms, but the Gen 3 is the better pick for living rooms and home theater.
Yes. The Arc plus Sub Gen 3 works with two Era 100s as rear surrounds, and that setup is described as sounding fully surround and very strong for music and movies. Officially Sonos supports two speakers, and Sonosequencer can extend the setup further if needed.
The regular Arc at $399 is widely treated as the better value, especially in non-huge rooms, because the Arc Ultra's dialogue and overall performance gains are not seen as worth the roughly $400+ premium. The Arc Ultra is better overall, but the price jump is hard to justify for many buyers.
How often does Sonos come out with these deals on the refurbished items? Joined a bit late to the game. Really wanted the arc and sub 3!
I would grab the Arc right now for $399 while it's still in stock. The Gen 3 sub is out of stock at the moment but I would keep checking. It's been in and out over the last few days.

I ordered one yesterday and got it today and it was brand new. Don't know if I just got lucky or all of them are like that.

Just received my order and set it up right away. When I have sub level at 0 there is a lot of distortion from the sub. I have to turn it down to -8 or -10 for it to not to hear any noise from the sub. Is this normal? It sounds like one of the subs from the side is delaminated and smacking against itself. Tried two different movies.
Assuming that you've already done full (iOS) Trueplay tuning, check out Peter Pete's YouTube channel to help with placement and confirmation of an actual hardware issue. If the issues persist, I would reach out to Sonos support.
Received my Arc and Sub 3 a few days ago in brand new condition in sealed packaging. I don't think it's a refurbished product. Nothing in the box or on the box mentions refurbished, it's new sealed retail packaging. I bought 3 Sonos refurbished products in past 2 years and they appear to be brand new. At this point I have a theory that Sonos offloads overstock product as refurbished to keep value of their product inflated and not have retailers do a crazy sale.
It's a theory. I think Amazon does something like that, selling brand new Apple laptops as open box. Apple will not let retailers have big sales on their laptops to not devalue their product, only $100-$200 max, depending on the product. So I think what amazon does once they end up with huge overstock of Apple laptops that aren't selling fast enough is start selling them as open boxes. It's not technically a sale, they're just reselling used laptops. I ordered an open box MacBook Air for a really good price before, don't remember, but I think it was $300+ off. It showed up and it looked like someone literally just sliced the seal and put a new tape over it. Laptop was brand new without a single fingerprint on it with all the accessories still in boxes tied up from factory.
mine arrived and no wear visible. It was in original packaging. It looks like new.
Mine also looked brand new and the only thing that gave away it was a return was the previous owner wrote what looks like a Wifi password on one of the pages in the manual that came with the unit.
Liked the sound so much I bought another for my daughter.

Refurbished Sonos speakers can arrive looking new in sealed retail packaging with minimal signs of prior use.
An Arc plus Sub Gen 3 setup with two Era 100 surrounds can produce an impressive surround effect for daily listening.
The Arc and Sub Gen 3 combination can deliver a strong alternative to buying an Arc Ultra for the same home theater goals.
Era 100 speakers can sound surprisingly good in real-world setups like a workplace cafeteria.
The Sub Gen 3 can be out of stock intermittently, which can make it harder to complete the bundle at the listed price.
The Sub Gen 3 can produce distortion or noise when the sub level is set to 0, requiring a lower setting to reduce unwanted sound.
The Sub Gen 3 may be hard to notice in music for smaller rooms, with clearer differences showing up more in movies.
