I had a use case that couldn't support the usual kick down hold open, so that was a bit of a bummer.
Community Reviews
These magnetic door stoppers are a low profile way to hold doors open, especially on heavier interior, front, or garage doors where groceries or hands free access matter. The magnets can be very strong, and the hold can be adjusted with a bit of clear tape if the pull is too much. They also need careful alignment during installation, and the noise when pulling the door free is noticeable. They struggle with flimsy doors, some auto close or self latching setups, and bronze hardware.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. On lighter doors, the magnet can be strong enough to make disengaging difficult or feel too forceful, and some users reduce the pull by putting 1-2 small pieces of clear tape over the magnet contact area or spring-loaded wall mount.
It works well on heavy doors and can be useful for front or garage doors when you need them held open for groceries or other heavy items. It may not overcome an auto-close hinge on some garage access doors, especially where the closer tension, weather seal, or threshold drag is strong.
If the magnet feels too strong, adding a small piece of clear tape over the contact area increases the gap and reduces magnetic pull. Proper alignment during installation also matters, because if the magnet is not centered it may not engage correctly.
It can work on some auto-close doors, but not all. Older or weaker closers may be fine, while stronger garage-access closers and code-driven door hardware can prevent the magnet from holding the door open.
Yes, it was described as the lowest price ever on CCC, with the next closest price at $7.60 in 2024. This deal is $5.99 with free shipping for Prime or orders over $35.

Also, just came in handy for my foot fracture and having to use a scooter while I stay off my foot. Easy to release you just push in the door on the magnet a bit and the momentum perfectly comes off.
They will let you mix and match door plates. I have black hardware on white doors so I needed black caps with white plates and they accommodated.

I can say that new-ish code requires at least 20min fire rating on that door, making for weight differences right off the bat.
Factor in the resistance required for the beefy weather seal, self-latching per code, drag from the threshold, etc.
The difficulty I had is that I couldn't get a proper tension on the closer that would both close the door properly and allow the magnet to hold.
One thing I didn't try was moving the closer hinge, but it's not recommended in certain climates because it can warp the door.
