I picked these up on the last go and they're not bad at all. Not great but, for the price, very acceptable. If you were an audiophile...well, you probably wouldn't be asking, but (for the rest of us) these do a decent job. I think they sound good and again, for the price, seem like they would be hard to beat. I have spent far more for much less in the past...

I have 2 S803 as my front and 2 S801s as my rears and they always sound good (not great) but good enough for the price point.

The S81 center is usually the weakest part of the deal, I think I switched to the S83 which is a bit better.

But I mean it comes with a sub AND the little atmos topper speakers.. I think this is a hell of a deal for someone just getting into home theater, all you need is a proper receiver to power it all.

I got this deal a few months back w/o the atmos for the same price

Great deal all things considered - general user will be pleased but maybe your audiophile friends might not.

Would you be able to recommend a suitable avr to accompany this set?

Any 7.2 Avr will do just fine. Yamaha TR series frequently goes on sale at Best Buy for 300+

I would agree, nothing special needed to power them.

I would even look used to save even more.
With so many switching to soundbars, good options pop up regularly ime.

I got these about 2 years ago and they have been great. I got it with the s83 center. Weakest part i would say is the sub but this will destroy any soundbar 3x its cost, I got a Denon S760h for $200

If my audiophile friend came over and started complaining about the sound, I'd kick her annoying ass out.

Got this setup with a Onkyo a while back. It's a great entry level system. I came here to tell y'all: if a speaker fails under warranty, Klipsch will replace it with their equivalent. The sub failed after a year and Klipch sent me a 12sw. They acquired the brand a while back.

These are decent speakers for the price; unfortunately, they're not very efficient and require a high-powered amp/receiver - figure 150 watts or so. The use of a good equalizer would greatly help.

Would a Denon AVRX 2300 be a good fit with these ?

These look a lot nicer than the kinda ugly Energy Reference Connoisseur set that was on sale with code for $800, but the Energy's are for sure the much better speakers. I see a lot of comments these are bright, while the Energy's have a nice warm sound. Don't know if/when the Reference Connoisseur set will have a sale again an I'm kinda in the need of a new 5.1 set. Anyone have recommendations for something as good (or better than) the Energy set for $800?
