Castrol GTX High Mileage 5W 20 synthetic blend is a budget oil change option for drivers who still stick to short intervals or need a basic high mileage fill. The price is close to store brand synthetic, but still lands well below local auto parts pricing, and the listing is for a four pack of five quart bottles. The main drawback is that it is only a synthetic blend, with full synthetic alternatives like Kirkland or Costco often called out as better value and protection. A practical pick if you want inexpensive oil in bulk and do not mind the blend formula.

  • The oil can suit drivers who still change motor oil around 3,000 miles.

  • The deal provides five quarts of oil per bottle in a four-pack format.

  • The oil has reportedly been used for over five years without problems.

  • The price can be competitive versus store-brand synthetic options for five quarts.

  • The synthetic blend may be inferior to full synthetic and can require earlier oil changes.

  • The synthetic blend may be barely better than conventional oil, especially if the car does not burn or leak oil.

  • The product listing can be overpriced compared with local auto parts store pricing.

  • The oil can be confused with dishwashing soap packaging, so it should not go in an automatic dishwasher.

And the oil Costco is selling is FULL synthetic.
FYI: There is no such thing as FULL synthetic. It's just a marketing term.

True, it's only $4 less than a store-brand synthetic, but it's a still good deal for five quarts of oil.

No shit? Thank you for attempting to educate a 76-year-old that has been around vehicles/the world etc. for longer than many have merely been alive.... even the term is an oxymoron. Only said it to differentiate. Ironically, Castrol is the company that won a legal case in the 1990s that allowed oil companies to call oils derived from mineral sources "synthetic".

Just buy any cheap synthetic for $2more. Base oils are much better than this crap. Or buy this and change out before 4k miles since sheer gets out of control imo
Lol that's news to my Toyota Sienna that shows about zero wear on the soil after 10,000 miles

This is "full synthetic" if you don't understand the marketing and product placement by now you're hopeless.

Pro tip: While this has nearly identical packaging and labeling as Cascade complete liquid dishwashing soap, DO NOT put Castrol in your automatic dishwasher or vice versa.

If you've been around vehicles that long, you should know better and not post something misleading. Lighten up crabby McBoomer.
