Pennzoil Platinum 10W-30 full synthetic is a solid clearance buy for engines and small equipment that call for this viscosity. The oil is described as high quality, with fitment called out for vehicles like the Ford Focus ST, older cars that allow 10W-30, generators, and riding mower oil changes. Cold weather is the main caution, since 5W and 0W oils flow better in harsh freezing conditions, and the Advance Auto link can misroute if a vehicle is selected on the site. A useful option if 10W-30 is the right spec.
people doing riding mower oil changes because one commenter said they'll pick it up specifically for their mower oil changes.
generator owners whose manual calls for 10W-30 full synthetic (or blended/dino) because a commenter noted their generator specifies that exact requirement.
drivers with older vehicles that list 10W-30 as an approved alternative because one commenter said many older cars that use 5W-30 specify 10W-30 as an alternative and they run it in a 2002 Mazda.
buyers trying to get Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in 10W-30 because commenters pointed out Ultra Platinum isn't available in 10W-30, so this deal won't match that need.
people planning to buy through Walmart.com or Amazon.com to use the Pennzoil DIY rebate because Pennzoil explicitly states the offer is not valid on purchases made on Walmart.com or Amazon.com.
shoppers using the Advance Auto vehicle selector link without checking the result because one commenter warned the link may show the wrong product if a vehicle isn't selected or if 10W-30 isn't listed as fitting your vehicle.
drivers who are specifically optimizing for cold-weather viscosity (like 5W/0W) because commenters explained 5W/0W oils are preferred in harsh cold climates and 10W-30 is mainly only a non-issue except in freezing weather.
It fits engines that call for 10W-30 full synthetic, blended, or conventional oil, and it's also used in some vehicles like the Ford Focus ST and older cars that list 10W-30 as an alternative. It's also a common choice for small engines and riding mower oil changes.
At $18.95 for a 5-quart jug, it's a strong clearance price for a name-brand full synthetic. It's also priced below examples like Castrol Edge at AutoZone, and the deal is still competitive even compared with Walmart pricing on Pennzoil Ultra Platinum.
10W-30 is generally fine down to around 0°F or lower depending on the vehicle, but 5W and 0W oils are better for harsh freezing climates. It's unlikely to cause a problem in a car that specifies 5W-30 except in very cold weather.
The Pennzoil DIY oil-change rewards rebate may apply to this product, but the offer excludes purchases made on Walmart.com and Amazon.com. That makes in-store or eligible retailer purchases the safer way to use the rebate.
I just hate how they are overpriced for just about everything, but I guess that's the price to pay for convenience.
Case in point; same 5 quart jug of Castrol edge is $38 at AutoZone, $28 at Wal Mart. Just yesterday I needed a 17mm socket and knew auto zone sold singles...$15...smh. I went to harbor freight the next day and got an entire set for that price.

thisis advance auto not autozone, but its well known auto parts stores are major ripoffs. always use amazon, google shop or rockauto for parts, they are almost always half price. for some reason the reasonably priced chains went out of business. almost like its illegal collaboration or something. seems to be an agenda against repairing our cars. the elites must really hate sitting in traffic.

Never owned a vehicle that takes this viscosity. Is this for diesels?
10W-40 and 10W-30 used to be the norm. What changed is cold weather testing showed 5W and 0W oils work better for harsh cold climates.
Realistically, it's unlikely 10W-30 would cause a problem in a 5W-30 car except in freezing weather.
That said, it's not worth the small price difference. If you're going to play with the numbers, you're good to want to evaluate if bumping up the running viscosity by 10 promotes longevity (such as going from 5w-20 to 5w-30). On some engines it very much does.

If you need the ULTRA PLATINUM, it's $5 more ($2.50 per jug more) at Walmart after rebate.
Advance (plat): $19+$19 = $38 - $20 rebate = $18 for 2
Walmart (ultra plat): $26.50+$26.50 = $53 - $30 rebate = $23 for 2
"Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is superior to Pennzoil Platinum, mainly due to its advanced additive package that offers better cleaning (detergents) and improved engine protection. While both are high-quality, natural gas-derived synthetic oils, Ultra Platinum is designed for higher performance, better wear protection, and superior performance in extreme temperatures."

You can't get ultra platinum in 10W30. Even still, this isn't some crazy good deal and your point is valid. Walmart has it for $23.37 which I assume is the normal price. About $4.50 savings.

The common point of confusion—and why I mentioned the exclusion—is that Pennzoil explicitly states the offer is not valid on purchases made on Walmart.com or Amazon.com
I need 5w20 ultra which they don't have in store..

Depending on your car, 10W30 is good to 0 degrees f or lower.

If the link takes you to a different product than you expect, make sure you don't have a vehicle selected on the site. If 10W30 isn't in their system as an oil that 'fits' your vehicle, the link won't go to the Pennzoil product.
