A couple of comments. It is 10" long. I really like 10 inch chef knives but it may take some getting used to and you will appreciate a larger cutting board. Secondly, the core is not stainless steel. By all accounts it is a very nice knife steel but you will need to diligently wipe the blade between uses and oil it before you put it away. You might want to use a different knife for acidic foods like tomatoes or citrus.

It's got stainless cladding, so it shouldn't be too bad. You can force a patina on the exposed Blue #2 by soaking coffee and it should be pretty rust resistant.
