The Eufy SoloCam E30 kit stands out as a solar powered wireless camera setup that is easy to place where running wires is impractical, such as an apartment balcony, shed, or temporary mount. The cameras and solar charging are described as working well, and the Homebase setup can record locally. The main tradeoffs are app reliability and wireless security concerns, since the app can crash and Wi Fi based cameras can be disrupted. The fixed solar panel also limits placement in shaded spots, making it a practical fit when flexibility matters more than hardwired reliability.

  • The camera hardware can work well while solar charging supports day-to-day operation.

    hpcaub

  • Gutter mounting can raise the solar panel into sun and improve height for single-story gutters.

    komondor

  • Local recording can help preserve footage when the cameras are connected to Homebase.

    mkdenar

  • The kit can suit temporary setups where running wires is not allowed or practical.

    AquaSoda300

  • The app can crash regularly and prevent viewing all recorded events after multiple clips.

    hpcaub

  • Wireless feeds can be disrupted by Wi‑Fi jamming, making break-in prevention less dependable.

    Jmoney611

  • Camera placement can be limited because affixed solar variants cannot be positioned in shaded locations.

    Klix

  • Without Homebase connectivity, the system may rely on app access and can be vulnerable to app hacking or camera theft.

Wireless "security" cameras is like having carpet in the bathroom. It's a terrible idea. Anyone with a FlipperZero or an app on their phone can disrupt the feed frequency. If you're spending this time and money, just wire it for crying out loud. Spend money on a PoE and don't use cloud subscriptions. Done.
If people need a flipper to break in, they're trying way too hard for what I own.

Currently have 3 ring devices (2 doorbells and a side camera) and 2 wyze devices that we inherited on the house we bought. Annoyed with constantly changing batteries, would this be a good system to replace all three and just have 1 additional cameras? Not sure about the larger price tag.

Costco I believe just calls it the S3, but it is identical to the S340.

These warehouses often have the same product, with a different part number.

*Plus, Costco has a lifetime satisfaction guarantee, on most items.*

(Not to be confused with the E340, I think it's called.)

Just a mention I found a bracket to attach the camera or pretty much any wireless camera to your gutter which to me is great it gets the panel up in the sun and the height is great for a single story gutter. .

I have a Eufy solar camera. The camera itself works great. Unfortunately the app crashes regularly. If u try to watch three or more recorded events/movement from the night before, the app crashes after the second one- meaning I can't see all rhe recordings. Bummer because the camera and solar charging work well otherwise.

I own these cams and I actually agree. If someone is planning on breaking in, expect them to use some sort of jammer to wipe your WiFi. It's common practice now and a FlipperZero isn't that expensive nor do you need a ton of knowledge to use one. For basic surveillance, these are great but if you're actually trying to prevent a break-in, these will most likely be bypassed.

I'll specify that this is only if it is connected to home base. Otherwise it records locally, unless they can hack into your app to disable, or hit the cmos with a powerful laser, or steal the whole camera you're good Similar note, an opportunistic theft will most likely skip your house with cameras for one without; and most will not want to add federal charges for jamming Wi-Fi
