Not a fan of having to pay for cloud storage. I'd rather have a local storage option with the cloud being optional

You can still have local storage with a micro SD card that is free but they also offer the cloud storage which is paid and not required.

This isn't a question of better. You buy a camera called "Mini" for its size. This is way smaller than the VIOFO, which is why I bought it. I have a VIOFO A229 in my personal car. I have this Garmin in my travel bag for rentals. It's good enough for insurance purposes, and it takes up as little space in my luggage as humanly possible.

You get free 24hr storage. Save any video, just go to download it before 24hrs.
