I can't speak to this vendor, but recently purchased a pair of Maui Jim's from Ashford (another unauthorized reseller) and I am 99.9% convinced they were counterfeit crap. Returnable (on my own dime), but (a) again had to pay shipping to return and (b) refund still processing.

I'm all for getting a great deal, and therefore plan to stick to Costco and wait-out on something I want vs rolling the dice on "grey market" retailers which may or may not be selling counterfeit crap.


To the down vote -- would love your take on why. Is this a legit reseller? Have you purchased from them before?

I emailed Maui Jim customer service, they confirmed eyedictive IS NOT authorized reseller.

This doesn't prove they are counterfeit vs genuine, but no guarantees, and based on my experience elsewhere (seperate post), from another non-authorized seller, 99% certain got counterfeit crap.

as far as I know, you cannot get genuine maui jim prescription lenses from costco. I've heard of other places putting their own / non maui jim lenses into maui jim frames but that voids the warranty on the MJ frame & depending on the frame, edging can difficult to outright impossible with the shield style of frame like the Palulu & the Paluna.

Maui Jim lenses are the best in the industry, the only other polarized lenses that compared pretty well that i've personally tried, are the Smith Optics Chromapop polarized which are around the same price point anyway. I've only ran into a very small group of people that can't tell the difference while almost all can tell immediately.

Mine were authentic. Compared them to the same pair I got direct from MJ as a replacement a few months ago. Everything matched, included the box it was shipped in. For $110, it was cheaper than my 50% discount I got from MJ and now I have a backup pair.

Out of curiosity, which pair did you receive that is genuine? For the price, I might be willing to roll the dice, but not trusting that _all_ of them are genuine.

Yep, the table setup at the entrance just beyond the membership card scanner is what I typically see at my local Costco. I go to Costco every 2 weeks pretty religiously, and they had that setup twice in 2025. I haven't seen it this year as of yet

You really think they're going to came out and say that a website selling the glasses at well over 50% off is authorized? Also, counterfeiting the glass lenses is probably not the easiest thing to do vs. other plastic lensed glasses

Ordered Ilikou on Tuesday and just received. I am no sunglasses expert as everything I have owned previously has cost at most $25 from EyeDictive for various cheap brands, but I am shocked/blown away on how good these are optically. FWIW, I believe them to be genuine whether authorized retailer or not.
