Staples is offering a fee free $200 Mastercard gift card in store, which makes it useful for online purchases, gifts, and keeping personal payment details off unfamiliar sites. The no fee angle also helps when loading cards for recurring charges or when using business cards that earn office store rewards. The main practical wrinkle is availability, since nearby stores have been out of Visa cards and stock can be spotty. It is a handy way to stretch a gift card purchase when the cards are actually on hand.
Common Questions (4)
They can be used for online purchases from sites you do not trust with your personal information, and they are also useful for avoiding auto-renewals. The no-fee promo makes stocking up cheaper when you want disposable payment methods for recurring or one-off web purchases.
Yes. Visa gift cards are also listed as fee-free through 04/25/26, and the current Visa promotion can be found on Staples' homepage under Shop > Gift Cards rather than in the weekly ad.
Certain business credit cards earn 5x points back at office stores, which can make the gift card purchase more worthwhile. That reward can offset part of the time spent buying the cards in-store.
A practical way is to make extra payments toward utilities or cell phone bills online, since those billers can accept additional payments in any amount. That lets you zero out odd remaining balances before discarding the card.

I don't know why they don't show it in their weekly ad section, though, or am I blind? Is there another way to see it? I have checked several times from their weekly ad page and all additional pages of deal section as you scroll down from there. Their latest iteration of the "weekly ad" is insane.
And Thinker, for next week's MC GC deal, I cannot find how to preview it. How are you seeing that in advance?

The employees are probably not putting them out. I overheard one say they don't get "credit" for sales of GCs.

Some online betting won't take credit card deposit but will with DEBIT cards. Also, if you want to buy lottery tickets, machines will accept DEBIT cards. So this is like using credit card to pay something when credit cards are not accepted.
