Staples is offering a fee free $200 Mastercard gift card in store, which makes it useful for online purchases, gifts, and keeping personal payment details off unfamiliar sites. The no fee angle also helps when loading cards for recurring charges or when using business cards that earn office store rewards. The main practical wrinkle is availability, since nearby stores have been out of Visa cards and stock can be spotty. It is a handy way to stretch a gift card purchase when the cards are actually on hand.
The deal can support online purchases from sites where personal information sharing is a concern.
The promotion information for related Visa gift cards can be found on Staples' Gift Cards category page.
The fee-free Mastercard gift card can help reduce extra charges when buying online or giving as gifts.
Some business credit cards can earn 5x points back at office stores, which may add value to the purchase.
Local Staples locations can run out of Visa gift cards for months, which can limit availability.
Store staff may not prioritize putting out gift cards, and employees may not receive credit for gift card sales.
The weekly ad experience can be difficult to navigate, and the Mastercard promotion may not be easy to preview in advance.
Virtual cards may not be the best fit for everyone because buyback protection is mentioned as a reason to consider them instead.

I don't know why they don't show it in their weekly ad section, though, or am I blind? Is there another way to see it? I have checked several times from their weekly ad page and all additional pages of deal section as you scroll down from there. Their latest iteration of the "weekly ad" is insane.
And Thinker, for next week's MC GC deal, I cannot find how to preview it. How are you seeing that in advance?

The employees are probably not putting them out. I overheard one say they don't get "credit" for sales of GCs.

Some online betting won't take credit card deposit but will with DEBIT cards. Also, if you want to buy lottery tickets, machines will accept DEBIT cards. So this is like using credit card to pay something when credit cards are not accepted.
