This Battlefield bundle is strongest for classic campaigns and older multiplayer maps, especially Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4. Battlefield 1 stands out for single player, while Battlefield 4 gets praise for iconic maps and modes, and Battlefield V and 2042 still draw interest for their larger maps and Portal style throwbacks. The main drawbacks are EA app friction, anti cheat, and reports of dead or bot filled servers in 2042. Battlefield 2142 is also described as long defunct, so the best value here is for players chasing the older entries.
Campaign-focused Battlefield fans who want the strongest single-player entry, because Battlefield 1 is repeatedly called the best single-player option in this list.
Players who want to jump into Battlefield V on PC without launcher hassle, because it can require both Origin and Steam open and may crash with anti-cheat errors.
Yes. Battlefield 2042 includes bots, and they can fill matches when player counts are low. That makes it easier to find games, but it also means some sessions may not be full of human players.
Battlefield 1 is the strongest pick here for single-player. Its campaign uses an episodic World War I format with different stories, and it is repeatedly called the best single-player option in this list.
Yes. The Steam versions open the EA app to launch, so you still need EA's launcher installed. Buying on EA can avoid running two launchers if Steam integration is not important to you.
Battlefield 2142 is effectively defunct for normal online play because Gamespy shut down years ago. A community project called the 2142 Reclamation Project reportedly restores online access, but it is not the standard official experience.
Battlefield 4 is the only title in this list that works on Steam Deck. The other Battlefield games mentioned here are not reported as compatible in the same way.
I started playing Battlefield at Battlefield 3, but BF4 was truly the goat. I like them all, but BF4 was the best in my opinion. Seige of Shanghai, Metro, Flood Zone, Rogue Transmission. All classics now.
Same. Didn't realize 2042 wasn't that one. Is that not online anywhere?
I think 2142 is long defunct. Went down when Gamespy was taken offline more than 10 years ago. There is "2142 Reclamation Project" that supposedly makes 2142 accessible for online play again, but never tried it. Personally I've never had much luck enjoying really old MP games years later. The only people who seem to be still playing them are so good it is absurd (or servers are just 1 or 2 people trying to figure the game out and not really playing).
FWIW, I loved 2142. It was a lot like Tribes, games would start out in the open then devolved into frantic close quarters base defense. Making the loop very demanding and picking the proper class super important. Also didn't allow people to abuse certain classes like snipers or tactics such as spawn camping. Best part was when one crazy player could change the tide of the entire map by taking out a poorly defended base when the other team was on full scale assault mode. IMO much more entertaining then the normal 'tug of war' with 'hold point A' while the other team 'holds point B,' then flip flop. There was always a make or break moment in every match, it wasn't a 2 hour war of attrition every game to see who could outlast the other team.

2142 was a fun and different. They need to make a sequel

I already had 2042 from a previous sale, but I just bought all of the other ones.
Even if multiplayer isn't full of people right now, the single player campaigns are always awesome!
If you don't have these, I wouldn't hesitate.
I remember years ago playing BC2 with one of my cousins. That was an awesome game for its time.
