This Battlefield bundle is strongest for classic campaigns and older multiplayer maps, especially Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4. Battlefield 1 stands out for single player, while Battlefield 4 gets praise for iconic maps and modes, and Battlefield V and 2042 still draw interest for their larger maps and Portal style throwbacks. The main drawbacks are EA app friction, anti cheat, and reports of dead or bot filled servers in 2042. Battlefield 2142 is also described as long defunct, so the best value here is for players chasing the older entries.
Campaign-focused Battlefield fans who want the strongest single-player entry, because Battlefield 1 is repeatedly called the best single-player option in this list.
Players who want to jump into Battlefield V on PC without launcher hassle, because it can require both Origin and Steam open and may crash with anti-cheat errors.
Yes. Battlefield 2042 includes bots, and they can fill matches when player counts are low. That makes it easier to find games, but it also means some sessions may not be full of human players.
Battlefield 1 is the strongest pick here for single-player. Its campaign uses an episodic World War I format with different stories, and it is repeatedly called the best single-player option in this list.
Yes. The Steam versions open the EA app to launch, so you still need EA's launcher installed. Buying on EA can avoid running two launchers if Steam integration is not important to you.
Battlefield 2142 is effectively defunct for normal online play because Gamespy shut down years ago. A community project called the 2142 Reclamation Project reportedly restores online access, but it is not the standard official experience.
Battlefield 4 is the only title in this list that works on Steam Deck. The other Battlefield games mentioned here are not reported as compatible in the same way.
They open the EA app. EA app has the same exact sales going on, so unless you want steam integration I would suggest just buying on EA so you don't need 2 game launchers open to play.
Figures, I have 6 and its EA launcher. I just picked up 2042 since its on sale. Already have the other BF games.
Grabbed BF 1 & Hardline since I've not had a chance to play those campaigns before. But given my experience last time V was on sale (refused to launch no matter what I tried, and I tried EVERYTHING the internet suggested) my finger is hovering the refund button already. We'll see!
Battlefield as a MP experience is terrible and littered with cheaters. EAC is easily defeated it seems But going in for just campaign so eh all good.
You can find Battlefield V available on Steam for $2.49. Unfortunately it also requires the EA App but some might prefer to buy it on Steam anyway.
"This is the ultimate Battlefield V experience. Enter mankind's greatest conflict with the complete arsenal of weapons, vehicles, and gadgets plus the best customization content of Year 1 and 2."
I bought the Battlefield V and 2042 bundle on Steam when it was on sale, but even with a sale, it's not worth it. First of all, you have to open Origin and the Steam app on your PC at the same time to play. Also, the game is infested with hackers and constantly crashes; the error appears to be related to anti-cheat software. I deleted both games after 1 hour of frustration.
