This bundle is a strong budget AM4 starter for gaming, especially if you can reuse a case, power supply, and SSD. The Ryzen 5 5500 brings 6 cores and 12 threads, and paired with a cheap used graphics card it can handle solid 1080p play, including popular FPS and indie games. The 16GB TeamGroup DDR4 3600 kit adds real value, and the included Wraith Stealth cooler should be enough for this 65 watt chip. The main limits are no integrated graphics, PCIe Gen3 only, and a B450 board that may cap memory speed around 3200. McAfee is bundled too, which is easy to ignore.

  • 1080p gamers pairing it with a midrange/older discrete GPU because the Ryzen 5 5500 is described as good for 9060 XT / 5060 Ti at 1080p, and commenters say it can handle typical FPS titles at solid frame rates when paired with a used GPU.

  • budget builders reusing an old case and power supply because this bundle is a better value than sub-$300 mini PCs as long as you can add an SSD and use a discrete GPU for display output.

  • people building a low-cost indie-gaming PC with an older cheap graphics card because commenters specifically suggest dumping an old cheap GPU into this setup for a solid 1080p machine focused on indie games.

  • buyers who need a PC without a discrete graphics card because the Ryzen 5 5500 in this bundle has no integrated graphics, so you'll need a GPU for display output.

  • people planning to pair it with a very expensive GPU like a 5070 for high-resolution gaming because commenters warn the 5500 can cause about a 10-15% bottleneck depending on the title (even if PCIe 4.0 itself isn't the main issue).

  • AM4 upgraders who want a clear upgrade path because the B450M board is described as limiting (no PCIe Gen4 and possible RAM speed limits), and the comment notes you shouldn't plan for a CPU upgrade on it.

  • buyers who can't get the RAM deal price because DDR4 is called out as potentially very expensive if you end up needing to buy it separately (one comment claims it can cost far more than expected).

Dump an old cheap GPU into this setup and you've got a solid 1080p gaming machine, especially if you're primarily focused on indie games.

Nah, it can handle more than that. With a used 5600 XT ($120) I get 70-150fps in most the popular FPS titles like fortnite, Apex, CS2, Rust, etc...
