I've been using the 1/2 gallon ones for a while now and can vouch for the quality of the plastic. They're pretty nice and hold up well - so far haven't gotten brittle or cracked or anything. I live in a semi-offgrid ADU type setup and use them was #1 waste jugs when it's too cold to go out or it's night time/etc. They're great for that, but probably wouldn't trust the lid if it took a tumble.

I echo the previous comments. I've been using two of the half-gallon pitchers for several years for water and other beverages. They are very sturdy and it's great being able to see how full they are without having to remove the lids.

I purchased one of these like 2 years ago and use it to hold tea. It works great, but the lid can be a bit of a pain to remove because of the notches that hold it into place. The trick is to twist the lid to where it begins to rotate and then pull it out while you're rotating it--you won't be able to remove the lid just pulling on it. Other than this annoyance, it's a great container.

The lid is too much of a pain to take off. Now I use just the container as a small bucket for mixing pesticides and stuff.

Multi Function? I would call it a 1 gallon pitcher with lid. They are nice I have one but that is a fancy way of saying twist to close or strain.
