Red Dead Redemption 2 is a slow, story driven open world game that rewards patience and attention to detail, with hunting and fishing standing out as appealing side activities. The opening snow section and early chapters can feel like a long slog, especially if the story does not hook quickly or playtime is limited. Even so, the game is described as a masterpiece once it gets going, and the long campaign can still feel worth the time. Steam is preferred for the refund option, points, and easier library convenience.
The story can feel worth continuing after an early slow start.
Finishing the game can be achievable even with very limited daily playtime.
The game can appeal to players who enjoy hunting and fishing activities.
The slower pacing can suit players who appreciate detailed, take-your-time gameplay.
The early snow level can feel slow enough to prevent progress for some players.
The game can feel like a long slog if the story does not grip early.
The deal may be less attractive if it is not available on Steam.
Online cheaters can push players away from multiplayer and back to the story.

I gave it an honest try and got to that Sanctuary place. Gave up soon after.
I love the GTA series but this isn't for me. Maybe if I was 15 again and had hundreds of hours of free time. Not with a job and kids and max an hour a day of free time.

That being said, even though the game picks up after that, it's a slower game than other open world types, but absolutely a master piece. I'm playing the first one currently, it's faster paced and legitimately a great game itself, but feels so much shallower in comparison.
All things being equal, I prefer buying on Steam for the refund option. Nice bonus is the points you get, to spend on steam deck intros, profile stuff etc.
