If you really want or need the Subwoofer and extra bass for something then no. For good balanced sound, yes. But for computer speakers I'm not sure Sonos is your best bet for the price.

I was planning to get 2 era100 and sub3 refurbished from sonos for around 700 for computer speaker. Will two of these be better?

Not the route I'd go. Era 100 only has streaming audio or bluetooth. For computer speakers i want to hardwire with an audio jack.

I own the Era 100 speakers. They do have a USB-C jack but you'll need to use the Sonos Line-In Adapter (USB-C to 3.5mm).

How are these compared to the Era 300, thought about picking up a refurb they had on sale, but stopped. I've heard the fives while an older model sound really good, anyone compare the two?

These are probably the best Sonos speakers. I have quite a few different ones and this speaker always amazes me at how good it sounds. Tempted to get two more at this price.
