This 14 inch MacBook Pro with M4 Pro is being framed as a solid outgoing-model machine for demanding work, with strong performance and the usual MacBook Pro fan cooling. The 24GB memory and 512GB SSD are the main sticking points, especially for heavier workloads and anyone who wants more storage headroom. Several comparisons point to better past pricing on older M3 Pro and higher-storage configurations, while the M5 Pro is seen as the more future-proof step. A capable laptop, but the storage and price make it feel less roomy than the spec sheet suggests.
The machine can feel like a major upgrade from an older 2013 MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
The deal may be reasonable for an outgoing model when compared with prior Costco pricing for higher storage configurations.
The 24GB RAM and 512GB SSD configuration can still support everyday multitasking needs for some buyers upgrading from much smaller specs.
The configuration may feel underpowered on storage because 512GB SSD can be insufficient for many users' needs.
The 24GB RAM option can be inadequate for work workloads, with swap activity reported as frequent.
The 12-core M4 Pro model may not feel like a meaningful speed upgrade compared with alternative configurations, making another deal preferable.
The deal may be less attractive than previous-gen pricing, since earlier M3 Pro discounts and price matching may not be available this year.
