Saving $ is good, but you're better off getting a prescription (dentist, pcp, whoever) for chlorhexidine gluconate, which will usually be even cheaper after insurance.

Not too impressed with the active ingredient in this. A lot of reviews mention allergic reactions, and also blue stains on tongue / gum. There is also some scientific reviews that says the active ingredient may brown your teeth near the gum line, requiring dental cleaning.

Besides the price, I won't be buying it for that reason. I'll stick to Walmart's mouthwash - everyday low price of $1.98. Half of this at its sale price, 1/4th this at its regular price..

..."Cetylpyridinium chloride is known to cause tooth staining in approximately 3 percent of users."

...
"In a small percentage of population, CPC can alter or eliminate the sense of taste. The effect generally goes away a few days after discontinuing use of the product."

etc.

Good grief, 3% is too large a percentage risk to just get a simple mouthwash. I can get mouthwashes that don't have any adverse affects, and have been in use much longer.
....
first five star review "...On the third day, I woke up with severe swelling of my parotid gland on that side. It was so swollen that I could not turn my neck, and my mouth was very dry, indicating a blockage of the duct (probably due to swelling from irritation). At first, I did not connect this problem to the mouthwash. However, I discovered that another mouthwash ingredient (chlorhexidine) had been shown to cause parotid swelling in rare cases. I immediately stopped using the mouthwash, and the swelling began subsiding within a day. It took around 3 days to fully go away. I believe the cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) affected me similarly to the way chlorhexidine affected other people, by irritating the parotid duct and causing it to swell shut. I was very careful to not overuse the mouthwash, and followed the directions exactly. So why did I still give the mouthwash 5 stars? Because it did an excellent job of reducing the bacteria in my mouth and gave me lasting fresh breath on the days that I used it. I realize most people will not experience the problem I experienced, so I am not faulting the product. This is a rare adverse reaction. I am sharing my experience just in case anyone reading this has experienced something similar."

Lots of other allergic reactions in reviews.

And then there is the blue stain reviews:

The active ingredient on this mouth wash is not good for nitric oxide production and can increase blood pressure and cardiovascular risk.

Clearly most are not realizing what this mouthwash is for. It is specifically for those with gum issues, gingivitis, etc. If anything like the similar one I have used, it is much more effective with that than standard mouthwash. To compare it to standard mouthwash is apples to oranges, based on ingredients alone.

Use hydrogen peroxide if you have early signs of gum disease. You really ought to be seeing a doctor if you have gum disease, not buy over inflated mouthwash.

Oh yes, It is Still almost twice as expensive as Walmart's own brand of mouthwash at $1.98 for 16.9 Fl Oz
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate...1427387568 - or even four times as much when not on sale.

It gets even cheaper in larger sizes. And you will save THOUSANDS if you have gum disease and try to self medicate with this stuff instead of seeing a doctor.

Pure junk. I can tell with the herd mentality (or bot posting) if any alternatives are provided. This is not normal posting behavior.
