Besides the price, I won't be buying it for that reason. I'll stick to Walmart's mouthwash - everyday low price of $1.98. Half of this at its sale price, 1/4th this at its regular price..
...
"In a small percentage of population, CPC can alter or eliminate the sense of taste. The effect generally goes away a few days after discontinuing use of the product."
etc.
Good grief, 3% is too large a percentage risk to just get a simple mouthwash. I can get mouthwashes that don't have any adverse affects, and have been in use much longer.
....
first five star review "...On the third day, I woke up with severe swelling of my parotid gland on that side. It was so swollen that I could not turn my neck, and my mouth was very dry, indicating a blockage of the duct (probably due to swelling from irritation). At first, I did not connect this problem to the mouthwash. However, I discovered that another mouthwash ingredient (chlorhexidine) had been shown to cause parotid swelling in rare cases. I immediately stopped using the mouthwash, and the swelling began subsiding within a day. It took around 3 days to fully go away. I believe the cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) affected me similarly to the way chlorhexidine affected other people, by irritating the parotid duct and causing it to swell shut. I was very careful to not overuse the mouthwash, and followed the directions exactly. So why did I still give the mouthwash 5 stars? Because it did an excellent job of reducing the bacteria in my mouth and gave me lasting fresh breath on the days that I used it. I realize most people will not experience the problem I experienced, so I am not faulting the product. This is a rare adverse reaction. I am sharing my experience just in case anyone reading this has experienced something similar."
Lots of other allergic reactions in reviews.
And then there is the blue stain reviews:
Oh yes, It is Still almost twice as expensive as Walmart's own brand of mouthwash at $1.98 for 16.9 Fl Oz
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Equate...142738
It gets even cheaper in larger sizes. And you will save THOUSANDS if you have gum disease and try to self medicate with this stuff instead of seeing a doctor.
