This is no exception.
Ultra Soft Forever roll = $0.58/100 sheet (This deal) [amazon.com]
Ultra Soft Mega XL rolls = $0.45/100 sheet [amazon.com]
Ultra Soft Mega rolls = $0.49/100 sheet [walmart.com]
This is just an apples to apples price comparison, once you bring other brands into this, the deals for these "Forever rolls" gets even worse.
Community Reviews
Charmin Ultra Soft Forever Roll is a giant-roll starter kit that stands out for the included brushed stainless steel holder and the convenience of fewer roll changes. The paper itself gets praise for feeling soft and smooth, and the setup can work well with bidets or as a long-lasting household supply. The main pushback is value, since the kit is repeatedly compared unfavorably on a per-sheet basis against Costco, standard Charmin, and other rolls. The oversized roll and bulky stand also draw complaints, making it a quirky space-hungry option rather than a simple bargain.
Common Questions (5)
The kit works out to about $0.58 per 100 sheets, with one breakdown putting the cart at about $0.41 per 100 sheets before tax. Other Charmin rolls were cited at about $0.54 per 100 sheets, and Costco/Kirkland was described as having far more total sheets for only a few dollars more, making it the better value on a pure paper basis.
The roll was described as not soft by one commenter, with another calling it bulky and ugly. On the other hand, some buyers said they love it, keep buying it for the stand, and prefer it over Kirkland for wiping comfort.
Yes, the starter kit includes the stand, and the holder was described as a premium brushed stainless steel piece. That matters because the stand itself was treated as a big part of the value, with the two rolls seen as nearly free once the holder is priced in.
One household reported a Forever Roll lasts about 2 to 3 weeks, while another said the roll can be gone in about a month. A bidet-heavy household reported much faster use, so lifespan depends heavily on how many people use it and whether you still wipe after bidet use.
One shopper specifically asked whether mega rolls fit on the stand, but no comment confirms compatibility. The thread only establishes that the kit is meant to start you on Forever Roll refills, so fit with standard rolls remains unverified here.

Maybe it's splurging because refills won't always be on sale, but I can always use the toilet paper holder for something else, so I decided to take the plunge.
