If you are serious about hiking, definitely consider a bag that has padded hip belt and padded shoulder straps.

It's not meant to be waterproof. Most bags eventually let water in through seams and zippers. You need a rain cover if you are serious about hiking.

It's a strange bag because it looks like it's for hiking, but doesn't have the performance to back it up. The Talon 22 would be better for hiking. This bag is more for commuting on a bike or city life.

Yeah, I'd either upgrade to a Talon/Stratos for an actual hiking pack or downgrade to a Daylite for a casual pack.
