It's a good deal if you want an enterprise notebook. The build quality is fantastic and there's generous RAM. These aren't really optimized for games, though. Fine for simple games. Don't bother with an AAA title.

I had this for work. Great laptop, but 250 nits is not enough even for bright indoors.

This refurbished EliteBook 845 G8 is framed as a solid enterprise work laptop with excellent build quality, 32GB of RAM, and enough power for office work, media creation, Lightroom, Affinity Photo, Audacity, and light video editing. The 2 year SquareTrade by Allstate warranty and the roomy memory stand out, and the machine is described as still feeling fantastic in daily use. The main knocks are the 250 nit display, which can feel dim indoors, and battery life that lands around 6 hours for meetings and work, with some experiences shorter. It is not a gaming laptop, though older or simple games are fine.

  • Office workers needing a sturdy Windows laptop with lots of memory, because the build quality is fantastic and the generous RAM handles work tasks smoothly.

    trzahomegrownloser

  • Retro gamers and casual players, because it can handle older titles and simple games even though it is not a gaming rig.

    trzaTheOrdinarySun

  • People editing photos, audio, or light video, because it handles Lightroom, Affinity Photo, Audacity, and light video editing without struggling.

    TheOrdinarySun

  • Remote workers who spend about a workday away from an outlet, because real-world battery life is around six hours for meetings and work.

    food1313

  • Travelers who need all-day unplugged use, because battery life can fall to about three to six hours and may die during meetings.

    food1313ScarletSnow543sr27

  • Gamers wanting modern AAA performance, because it is not optimized for demanding games and cannot handle Cyberpunk.

    trzaTheOrdinarySun

  • People working in bright indoor spaces, because the 250-nit display can feel too dim even indoors.

Is this a good deal? I just want a daily driver to play some games on etc. Hopefully without breaking the bank too much.
I have an Elite Book that's similar to this model. This is a good deal. The display won't blow you away, but it's a capable machine. Just go in knowing it's not a big gaming rig, but it will handle a lot of media creation.

It'll handle a variety of programs like Lightroom, Affinity Photo, Audacity, and light video editing without struggling. It'll play older games as well. You won't be playing Cyberpunk but if you wanna play retro titles it can handle most things.

This would serve you better than a $300 Chromebook.

I am looking for something light weight with decent battery for my elderly parents. Mostly surfing the internet and streaming media. They want a traditional laptop not an ipad. Would this be a good option? Any other deals worth considering? My budget is $500.

Looking for something lightweight with good battery life for my elderly parents. They move their laptop around from room to room throughout the day. They prefer a laptop vs tablet. They mostly surf the internet and stream media. Would this be a good option or is there another model I should look at? My budget is $500.

This is crazy, this was cheaper 2 years ago still under factory warranty
True, got mine brand new from Microcenter 2+ years ago for $300. Same specs except 16GB of RAM. Should be seeing G9 / G10 at this price point by now.

I also have this gen from work but with 2-in-1 form factor and an Intel i7 1165g7. It's a good build but the battery doesn't last more than 3-4 hours of light use, which probably translates to 4-5 hours with ryzen 5. It's heavy for its size due to metal and very cold to hold in the winter. It's definitely got no use for 32GB of RAM! What would you do with a ok to weak CPU, small storage, and this much RAM? Maybe check out some Facebook marketplace listings if you want average performance for cheap. I just bought a 13gen i7 HP envy 2-in-1 with 64GB RAM and 2TB nvme for less.

you might also want to check Xbox Cloud and GeForce Now to run on a laptop that's a good deal but cheap, if the games you want are on there
