The deal history also gives you an option to click and see the product. If you'd done that, before commenting, you'd know that was a different model with a different and inferior processor and less and slower RAM.

Same reply as last time. None of that addresses or clarifies the company involvement with the malware, it's their damage control and crisis response. Same as you are doing here on this site, on a regular basis. Those of us in industry will not be swayed by their claims, then or now.

For those being downvoted, don't be gaslit. I tested a unit last year, post scandal manufacture. Same Redline clone malware, same custom install of Chrome with browser hijackers, same custom Windows with exploits on the recovery partition. Even a nuked clean reinstall of Windows I would not trust. It is trivial to deploy exploits to firmware, and I would not put it past this company for a single second.

Same goes for Kamrui, which is yet another AceMagic sub-brand with the same malware. There's a reason these brands are being constantly posted here, and it's not consumers finding deals...

A bit snarky aren't we? Why would the OP "know" that the tool is borked?

The deal history on this post says this was $309 from the beginning of the year up until 3/31.
Where can one find the deal history?

Because I check and verify things before commenting. The products have the same name/model "Kron K1" but just different specs hence why it's being shown in that list. It's common here that's why it's better to click on it and check. Saying this was cheaper without any verification negatively affects the deal and misguides the members here.
TBH, the Amazon "grouping" of many different products sucks. The vendor may have several options but it's difficult to discern exactly what you want to hear about. To me, this is the fault of Amazon.

Soldered DRAM- so not expandable. 24GB should be enough for most applications. But if not...

These make great little retro-gaming and media streaming devices (with ad-block) for 4k TV sets.

I got one like this for my kid. Super easy to set up. I mounted it on the wall. He uses it for light gaming (Roblox) with no issues.

What if I drop in a new SSD drive?
Or format the drive that comes with this unit?
Will that be safe then?

How can you ever "justify" something like that? You can't. It's intentional.
HOLLY SHIT... how can we justify that Acemagic... once they found out that malware was inbedded in their system (Which a simple Windows virus scan would find out on day 1) they traced it to the company they paid to install the software... and they switched providers and that was the end of it.

But I will tell you a story about a BIG company's that you love that sold devices with malware and viruses installed on their system...

THIS IS A FACT... Apple has shipped products with malware and viruses pre-installed.

AND...
n 2018, Bloomberg Businessweek reported that Chinese spies planted malicious, tiny chips on Supermicro motherboards used in Apple.
THIS IS A FACT!!! per Bloomberg Businessweek who I trust a hell of a lot more then any tech company.

So you can let apple get away with it but GOD FORBID this happens to Acemagic and it was not their fault... THEN YOU SAY F THIS COMPANY!!!

I will say this... due to how Acemagic has handled this incident, I think Acemagic is one of the best tech companies out there.

So Apple has shipped products with Viruses on them. News reports idicate that chines microchips were sodered into the mobo of Apple computers.

Lenovo has previously shipped consumer laptops with pre-installed software classified as adware or spyware, most notably the Superfish incident in 2014-2015.

HP has shipped computers with pre-installed malicious or highly suspicious software on multiple occasions.

eDellRoot (2015): Dell pre-installed a self-signed root certificate called eDellRoot on many PCs. This allowed attackers to mimic legitimate websites (like Google or Bank of America) to steal user information without the browser showing a warning.

ShadowHammer (2019): Hackers compromised the ASUS Live Update Utility, using it to push malicious updates directly to thousands of users' computers. This essentially turned ASUS's own official shipping/update channel into a malware delivery system

THE LIST CAN GO ON and ON and ON....

But I will TELL you the difference between Acemagic and ALL THESE OTHERS... Acemagic appoligized, found out why and remedied it. ALL OTHERS KEPT THEIR MOUTHS SHUT.

Again, I think Acemagic is a better company then Apple, HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus, Anker, etc...

And there is NO MALWARE in any acemagic pc TODAY!!! It was a one time affair that happened back in 2024, AGAIN, a virus search using Windows caught that virus on day 1.
