While I have never needed to warranty an impact socket from GearWrench, I have needed to warranty a chrome socket due to a sizing issue from manufacturing. I sent an email, with a photo, within a day or so I got an email back asking for my address information. Once I provided my information a new socket arrived in the mail like 2 or 3 days later. I was instructed to toss the defective socket. It was pretty easy, but definitely not as quick/easy as HF's in store exchange process.
That being said, my "go to" impact socket set is the Milwaukee set that goes on sale from time to time. It has colored, imprinted markings right out the box that I just prefer over these. Plus the milwaukee carry case is a bit sturdier and better organized. That's the set I carry around in my daily driver.
For the record, I am not a pro mechanic. I just like to tinker with cars in my free time, and I own a couple of bimmers... so of course that means I have a lot of required under the hood time. HAHAHA!
