So the government doesn't have enough info on those under 30. Got it.

If you're over 30 you probably should already have a credit card that would reimburse you for TSA Precheck. Fidelity card is free and has no annual fee

For those that do have a card that covers the Pre Check Fee, make sure you don't make the same mistake I did. I charged the fee for myself and my wife on my card (Amex) but they only covered ONE fee per card. If we had paid our own fees with seperate cards (she has her own card under my account), I was told it would have been fully covered. Not the end of the world but lesson learned for next time.

I used to travel frequently, well, that was before COVID and all, and had TSA for years, those times TSA was really good, but of late I see more people and delays in TSAlines than in normal lines.

How is it being a karen if the government charges different prices based on age?
Can someone Karen our car insurance? Why do they charge 3x more for age 16-21 compared to mine?

This is great for people without travel-forward CCs. But it's also weird. It's a government service...it probably shouldn't have a "sale". And, really, I'd recommend going full in for Global Entry. It's a little more work and expense, but international travel is one of the best ways to expand your horizon and - with the SD mentality - it's often no more expensive to fly internationally than it is to fly domestically (if you're flying for leisure).
Global Entry, hands down best $100 that I have ever spent. If you are thinking of any international travel in the next 5 years, just get it.

this was my thought as well. People under the age of 30 may or may not have a good credit history built up enough or the need to have one of those types of credit cards so it makes sense.

Touchless ID TSA Precheck is pretty great, often no line, walk up standing in front of the camera and the Agent just goes you're good to go, and away you go, it's basically Global Entry but for TSA.

I switched to Global entry this past month and it was worth the upgrade. Also if you already have TSA precheck it makes the whole process way faster, I only had to show my passport and DL at the interview and I was done. Only took me 2 minutes. Just make sure you take a good picture with your phone when doing the application verifying process, as that's the picture they used for my ID card lol.

I've had global entry for last 7+ years. I just came from overseas trip via JFK. Best experience ever for global entry. Line was empty got GE, all other lines were full including mobile passport lane. When I went thru my GE lane I didn't even have to take out my passport nor GE card. Nor did I my pic take. CBP officers were waiting at end with their IPad kind devices and just called my name after going thru their device and I said yeap that's me. They said go ahead. I was like how they knew I was coming thru that lane and didn't ask me for no identification nothing. They knew beforehand that MR so & so is coming in this lane.
I was so impressed. We having another international trip via ATL so let's see how the GE process goes here.
Overall we as family of 3 all have GE for 5+ years and it's well worth it. Never paid a dime as I've gotten free wit capital one venture card and Amex delta plat card. So worth it.

On a serious note, it would make more sense to offer this to seniors because waiting in a long line while dragging luggage is harder for them, and they are far less likely to be an actual security threat, so it'll increase efficiency at airports.
