R2544 is a 4-core, 8 thread Zen+, Vega 8 CPU. I don't want to call it old junk, but it's not a modern or powerful CPU. I consider this a pass. Because it's Ryzen Embedded with long term product support, it may support Windows for longer than other Zen / Zen+ CPUs, which have already had their support dropped by Microsoft. If you try to upgrade a PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11 with a Zen+ CPU that isn't this specific embedded series, Windows will tell you the CPU isn't supported.

You can get much more powerful Zen 2 or Zen 3 PC for the same price.

While I don't think this is a particularly great PC, it's heaps better for about $300 after the coupon.

That PC above is Zen 2+, has an 8 core / 16 thread CPU, and the same size SSD and 16GB DDR4 RAM. Please don't buy this Acemagic when better options exist. It's old stock AceMagic is trying to dump. Neither PC will be good for gaming, but at least the V2748 PC will be good for productivity.

I mentioned this I think yesterday on another Kamrui post, they're a sub-brand of Ace Magic. It's the same company, same wolf in a different sheep costume. Same issues with malware, Redline, etc.

Shockingly, Intel still dominate these lower power / NUC like categories.

It depends on the usage.
If you are using it primarily as a HTPC, Intel dominates.
If you are casual PC gaming, AMD is best of breed.
If you are just streaming Netflix and maybe emulating classic games, some cheaper ARM based platform is probably the answer. Or a cheap ARM for emulation and then something like a Fire stick, presuming your TV doesn't have streaming apps built in.

Enough with the malware already. If you don't clean install an OS, then it "can be" suspect. Unless the bios/efi has a backdoor (with physical access to the device), there is nothing to be concerned with. Scary scary scary....yikes... people are so gullible.

You trust their spin doctors, we get it. Here you go, https://slickdeals.net/f/19471179-prime-acemagician-kron-k1-mini-pc-ryzen-7-7735hs-24gb-lpddr5-512gb-ssd-386-1?p=183984357#post183984357

No, I don't trust their spin doctors. My point is that any malware embedded in their windows (and any other pre-installed software) is ALWAYS suspect.

If one blindly uses that, then suffer the possibility of any consequences.

If one is determined to use Windows, then a fresh install from verified M$ sources is the means to be rid of it. One temporary exception is to boot the Windows they ship with a local only 'temporary' account (i.e. no internet access), and backup any unique drivers for the re-installation (double driver works great for this).

Wiping the disk(s) and installing Linux is even better.
