These are both great tools to have for the DIYer. Just for the safety aspect. Don't even have to do electrical work. Just to be able to test outlets, or check if a wire is hot is worth the $20.

These are both great tools to have for the DIYer. Just for the safety aspect. Don't even have to do electrical work. Just to be able to test outlets, or check if a wire is hot is worth the $20.

This tests for ground, your USB phone charger doesn't have a ground pin. nor could you use it to test for that even if it did.
Also, the non-contact tester can be used on non-outlets, like switches.

I already have a test pen but I do not have an outlet tester. This will be great because there have been a lot of DIYers in my house previously and I'm sure not all the outlets are 100% safe
