Windows on ARM! 🤮🤮🤮 That's a lot of compatibility headache. Even X86 won't run as it should every now and again. Now that Panther Lake is competitive, there is no reason to switch. Maybe 10 years from now. Maybe. The only way manufacturers can sell Windows on ARM is when they sell at massive discounts (at a loss). People are willing to pay 2x for X86.
Its absolutely misleading comment. What you are saying is just wrong. Windows on ARM is perfectly fine for 99.99999% users. You are just parroting the same old nonsense.

Just read what IT professionals say about current Windows on ARM devices.

x86 is just dead for laptops. and its for good reason.

I have the slim 3x, also ARM. It's pretty neat. It has something like a 12 hr battery life, which was great on a long flight. Many everyday programs are available for ARM: Chrome, Office... actually that's about it. VLC is on ARM, but it had some pretty glaring problems so I'm using Screenbox I think. There are a lot of other ARM-compiled programs that I had never heard of, and I like most everything I tried.Anything requiring a driver probably won't work. You may get lucky with a basic device like a webcam that typically uses built-in Windows drivers. I don't believe the emulators work on drivers at all.As far as emulated x86 and x64 programs, a lot of smaller programs work fine. Multi-gigabyte programs like Solidworks don't stand a chance. Turbotax doesn't work. Fusion 360 kind of works, some modules just don't work or crash the program, others work fine. There are a lot of websites that list programs as ARM compatible, but for some reason many of these simply don't work and I don't know what these websites get out of adding them to the list.I suggest buying a Snapdragon laptop as a toy. See what works, what doesn't, what the advantages and disadvantages are. Ask software suppliers for nice compatible and efficient ARM versions of their programs. Do not expect to buy one of these as a replacement for an x86/x64 computer, at least not for a while. Apple switched everything to ARM. Microsoft is pushing toward ARM. ARM is the future, but it's not the present.PS: This site actually takes you to ARM compatible download pages, it doesn't just say things work on ARM.https://armrepo.ver.lt/
Came here to echo all of the same sentiments. I have the 32 GB version of this laptop. I fully agree that there is no driver support for anything outside of something other than a very basic webcam or printer. I have a Canon MF634Cdw scanner/printer and that seems to work okay so far with very basic functionality. My external webcam not so much.

There is also no battery conservation mode to limit how much the battery is to being charged to preserve battery life. If you are a heavy user and don't physically unplug the charger between 20 to 80% you will probably go through a battery replacement within a year or two of heavy usage. Just an FYI when considering this laptop for purchase

Panther Lake unfortunately not competitive. Its the same outdated old architecture in a new shell.

That's definitely hyperbole and probably based on secondhand information. Slim 7, Elitebook, Thinkpad, Zenbook, and other lines that offer multiple processor options have ARM versions selling at a premium over x86

I'm tempted, but what's the latest consensus on how well ARM Windows runs apps built for Intel-based CPU? I'm mostly concerned about apps that utilize the GPU (e.g., photo and video editors, etc.).
DaVinci works perfectly well. Qualcomm worked with all major video editors including Adobe to get them working seamlessly. I am using them and dont see any issue. Its native arm64.

Thanks for this info. I tried to buy when the code didn't work a week ago. I don't need another compatibility headache with my older peripheral devices like my printers that don't push subscriptions continuously
That's not the case anymore. These PCs are really good.

I've had this exact model since it was released and this is by far my favorite Windows laptop. Battery life and responsiveness makes it such a wonderful device.
