The Panasonic Z8 Series stands out as a bright OLED with natural, cinematic picture processing, strong motion handling, and unusually capable built in audio for a TV. The 77 inch set is also described as heavy and robust, with Fire TV integration that works well with the TV settings and quick, low lag performance. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR10, and the built in sound bar can be paired with a subwoofer. The main hesitation is room fit, since brighter rooms favor the LG C5 or Samsung S90F, while the Z8 seems best in more light controlled spaces.

  • The built-in sound bar can provide TV audio that feels comparable to a higher-end external option.

  • The Panasonic Z8 picture processing can deliver a natural, cinematic look out of the box.

  • The Fire TV experience can integrate with the TV settings to improve 4K viewing workflows.

  • The Z8 can reduce stutter compared with expectations, with Panasonic processing not causing issues for motion.

  • The Z8 can be very heavy, which can make delivery and unboxing more difficult.

  • Some comparisons suggest Samsung S90F may be better for gaming and motion priorities.

  • Expectations of Panasonic build quality may be misplaced because manufacturing is outsourced to TCL and Skyworth.

  • The built-in sound bar equivalence claim may be hard to believe without hearing it directly.

I ordered this tv through best buy a day before the $100 price drop, and then the next day it drops $200! Unable to cancel order or a price match, but I was able to get a partial refund from beach camera. Oh well. Still excited to see how this compares to my 65" LG c1.
How did this work? Did you go through Best Buy? Or contact Beach directly? I was eyeing this, but prefer to order through Best Buy (beach camera third party) because I have gif cards there. But it's obviously cheaper at Amazon.

I ordered online through best buy and used a $100 gift card I had. Then when the price dropped, best buy chat bot directed me to contact beach camera for price matching. I used the BB app to send BC a message and got a response within an hour to my email. BC told they can't price match due to whatever whatever, but they offered me a $60 refund out of the $100 price drop. Then it dropped $200 the next day lol

I have both the 77" Z8BAP and the 65" S90F. I would go with the S90F if your room gets a decent amount of natural light and you already have a solid sound system. The Z8BAP is a better fit for more light controlled rooms or evening/nighttime viewing. The built in audio is great for TV speakers, and you can add a subwoofer to it. There's more to consider than this, but when deciding between these, the room im putting the TV in was the deciding factor for me.
Go with an lg c5 for bright rooms.

That is false Value Electronics was the first to sell the Panasonic Oleds in the U.S. and they still do.
Value Electronics is also host to the yearly TV shoot outs
Interesting! I had never heard of Value Electronics. I looked them up and they definitely have the Panasonics listed. Sure this 77" TV is listed for $3999 on their site and they don't have any in stock at any size, but you're right they do look like they potentially sell them. You'd have to be a complete moron to pay them $3999 vs. the $1300 Beach Camera sells them for.

The LG C5 probably splits the difference and is currently on sale for under $1600

I'm sure the tv is fine. And the price is amazing for and OLED. But the comments comparing it to old Panasonic. Like how good your 2012 plasma still is and how the motion clarity is so good just makes me chuckle.

This tv has very little to do with Panasonic. It's a b stock LG panel being sold to a Chinese company who is slapping the Panasonic logos on them and building them to spec. Panasonic isn't bringing some custom crazy processing or revolutionary motion technology. It's a parts bin tv from China.

Sony still has the best image processing on the market. LG - although I don't support as a company. Makes a better OLED.

I chuckle when people make up stuff about the Z8B when they don't own it.
There's a reason this TV has made the front page Everytime it's listed.
Or has a 4.7 Amazon buyer verified rating.
Or great comments on AVS forum & AVSForum (people who know what they are talking about).
Even rtngs.

Parts bin b stock. Talking like u know TV supply chain. That's some aspiration.

Well to be fair, that so called "b stock" panel(master class pro) was used by Sony also.
They also shared the top line master class MLA panel on flagships.
The same holds true now with both(tandem).

Panasonic has been rivaling Sonys processing for years(& over all) as they do today.

Interesting that every post that has gone front page is from a staff poster.... You seem to comment on every one also. Interesting. I never said it wasn't a good tv or that I own it. It's just not Panasonic of the past that people are making it out to be. They were manufactured by TCL and now skyworth. Both Chinese companies. Very little to do with the Panasonic name that was built in japan and once world renowned. People expecting "Panasonic build quality" and "I got 15 years out of my last Panasonic Plasma" are just wrong to assume it's the same thing.

Agreed. And my use of B stock here is entirely out of my knowledge to be able to verify so definitely can be wrong. LG makes the panels and assuming they would take the higher quality runs for their own products but I have no idea how their resale contract are structured.

I was between looking at 77 inch C and G LGs, but settled on ordering the Panasonic. I'll report back once I get it and have it setup. Price was a huge factor here, being cheaper than the C and G, and from what I understand, is it's basically a C series set that's a little dimmer. Some other things that sold it for me were the built in soundbar, the ability to do DV and HDR10+, robust construction, and from what I read, their processing is top notch.
If the Amazon software sucks that bad, the I'll just get an apple tv 4k. I'll give it a shot though

Well to be fair again.
You may not have said it wasn't but you are insinuating it.

Yes they just started outsourcing manufacturing.
Their R&D and quality assurance stays in Japan/Germany.

Again, panels come from LG, same ones LG & Sony use.
They do not use some b stock panels, whatever that means.

They are well regarded displays & likely have the same failure rate as Sony and LG.

A nice perk, you don't have to choose between HDR formats, they support all 3.

What about in terms of motion processing? Do you feel the image moving is better easier in the eyes on the Panasonic? I have the S90F 77" and can't seem to get used to the motion even with interpolation off.

I end up getting the S90F and the picture quality is stunning. Panel has basically as close to perfect uniformity and the viewing angles are perfect, unfortunately I find the motion even without interpolation lacking and sadly that is a deal breaker for me unless all OLED look like this. I have the Panasonic on the way to do a comparison for 24 hours but I'm already preparing myself to be disappointed with the downgrade in color volume, brightness. viewing angles and panel uniformity.
Only other option is the a95l but that's almost 3x the cost and I'm not even sure the motion is really better than the s90f as they are both QD OLED.
This sucks.
