This bundle pairs Intel's Ultra 7 270K Plus with a Gigabyte Z890 board and 32GB of DDR5, and the strongest takeaway is its productivity muscle for the price. The chip is described as top tier for multi threaded work, very fast in single thread, and still decent for gaming, with the board seen as solid and the RAM discount helping the value. Power draw can reach 250W and cooling may need attention for heavy all core renders, while the motherboard is not considered especially overclocking friendly. It feels like a strong all around build kit if you want Intel performance without paying flagship prices.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. The Ultra 7 270K is described as top-performing in most productivity programs, decent in gaming, and roughly comparable to a 14900K for gaming while being much cheaper. The bundle price also works out to about $200 per component, which makes the CPU, motherboard, and 32GB DDR5 kit look discounted together.

  • The CPU is a 250W part and can theoretically exceed 100°C under heavy all-core loads, so water cooling is recommended. It is also described as efficient at idle and running quite cool in normal use, so the heat concern is mainly for long renders and sustained full-load work.

  • It is described as a solid motherboard, but not very overclocking-worthy. The bundle board is also viewed as the cheaper side of the package, with the main value coming from the CPU and RAM discount.

  • It may be possible, but it is not guaranteed. The board specs suggest 6400MHz can work with single-rank sticks, yet filling all four slots usually makes high-speed DDR5 harder to maintain, so stability would depend on the exact memory and board behavior.

  • No. MicroCenter's policy requires returning the entire bundle, not just the CPU or motherboard. A workaround is to sell the motherboard separately, with about $120 mentioned as a possible resale price.

Decent in gaming? Lol
Yes it's decent in gaming! Similar performance to 14900k, #1 performance in single threaded, #3 in multi threaded, beats ultral 9 285k and ranked right under amd 9950x. And yet it's so much cheaper

I purchased but had not yet assembled a 9850x3d combo... I kept going back and forth on whether to keep it or go with the 270k+ since I do productivity more than I game... in the end I decided to keep the AMD combo after reading this article on the upcoming Zen6 architecture which will be released for the AM5 chipset:

https://overclock3d.net/news/cpu_mainboard/amd-to-deliver-latency-revolution-with-zen-6-ryzen-interc... [overclock3d.net]

The 9850x3d in normal world use will feel very fast, and having the opportunity to upgrade to Zen6 puts it over the top...

Maybe Intel will change all that when they debut the LGA1954 next year...

Only 18 months ago - everyone here remembers the way it was. It's painful to watch memory and NVMe prices go up 400%, for a community of people who tend to squabble and wait to buy so they can save 10-20%. Who in this chat isn't kicking themselves for not upgrading sooner?
I have a top line ddr4 setup from my dad, so I'm also fine for now

I was ready to buy this along with some thermalright cooler earlier this morning.

Then decided .... I don't REALLY need this. I have a 5900x based system and another 12700k from almost 4 years ago (2022?) I'm still trying to find a use for. After a few hours, the impulse subsided and I saved nearly $800!
The 12700k powerful and if you needed you could still do DDR4 mobo is $100 for that w/ PCI5. Some Asus hybrid they came out with last month.

The bundle came with an asus z690 tuf d4 board. It's a ddr4 board. Part of the reason I chose it, can move memory between a number of different devices if need be rather than starting over with ddr5.

I'm in a similar situation, i have a 12700k with a 6800xt, didn't have any reason for upgrade but I got a 9950x3d, motherboard, the whole works... Only thing missing is a case

I just ordered this chip and the Asus Z890 F with no Ram from Amazon. Should I just go with this instead?

That's really good! I did the opposite though and decided to buy (place it on hold at least). I'm coming from a 5900xt. While the 5900XT runs better than my old 5900x, it's still studders when I'm using OBS during meetings along with presenting a power ponint. This 270k will be an upgrade in every way even with the light gaming that I do.

something is wrong with your setup if a 5900X can't run OBS and Powerpoint... no need to spend $800

I'm hoping these just continue to drop as ddr prices drop. Great deal for right now though.

$200 for each component isn't bad in today's economy. The i7 for a i5 price. The RAM speaks for itself. The m/b is on the cheap side, 170 if purchased alone. Compared to the CPU and memory discount, it's fine.
That is my main gripe with MC bundles. The motherboards I want are never included.
