This bundle pairs Intel's Ultra 7 270K Plus with a Gigabyte Z890 board and 32GB of DDR5, and the strongest takeaway is its productivity muscle for the price. The chip is described as top tier for multi threaded work, very fast in single thread, and still decent for gaming, with the board seen as solid and the RAM discount helping the value. Power draw can reach 250W and cooling may need attention for heavy all core renders, while the motherboard is not considered especially overclocking friendly. It feels like a strong all around build kit if you want Intel performance without paying flagship prices.

  • The bundle has been reported as available in Houston and after restocks in New York stores.

  • The bundle pairs a top-performing productivity CPU with a decent motherboard for everyday workloads and gaming.

  • The CPU can reach strong Cinebench 23 results after pairing with an MSI Z890 motherboard.

  • The CPU is reported to use about 250W, which can help with planning power and cooling.

  • The bundle value can be weaker than some AM5 alternatives, even though Intel is catching up.

  • The motherboard selection in MicroCenter bundles may not match the boards shoppers want, which can limit upgrade flexibility.

  • The motherboard in the bundle is described as not very overclocking-worthy, which may restrict tuning options.

  • MicroCenter return policy reportedly requires returning the entire bundle, which can complicate partial changes.

It is basically like a 15th gen i7 and this particular CPU is like a refresh of that.

$200 for each component isn't bad in today's economy. The i7 for a i5 price. The RAM speaks for itself. The m/b is on the cheap side, 170 if purchased alone. Compared to the CPU and memory discount, it's fine.
That is my main gripe with MC bundles. The motherboards I want are never included.
True, and it's a solid motherboard been running since launch of the 265K but definately not very overclocking worthy.

Only 18 months ago - everyone here remembers the way it was.

It's painful to watch memory and NVMe prices go up 400%, for a community of people who tend to squabble and wait to buy so they can save 10-20%. Who in this chat isn't kicking themselves for not upgrading sooner?
I'm not.
I bought plenty of 1TB SSDs when the market bottomed. Rarely do I need more space than that. Got the home lab equipment to 32GB of RAM when that stuff was near the bottom, too. Also loaded up the UNRAID server with spinning rust when enterprise HDDs were like $6-$8/TB.
My last PC replacement was in September/October. It was earlier than I wanted to do it, so I went AM4. But I could see the price of RAM climbing then. I never thought it would be so bad, though.
If you stick around the PC parts market long enough, you'll learn to spot cycles. It's hard to buy at rock bottom, but you can certainly see prices falling and rising and use that to justify when you buy things that are wants, not needs.

Its efficient at idle, but can theoretically go over 100c i believe. Best to use water, but my 265k runs quite cool so I wouldn't worry about it outside long renders using all cores.

Anyone has insight into the MB in this bundle vs the one that is $50 higher? Looks like the main differences are 2.5 vs 5 GB LAN, and capability to overlock ram. Anything else?

My i7 13700K with 64gb ram bought from microcenter 3 years ago still good. Iwill wait another years to upgrade it. Probably worthy chip will be out at the time.

Say one bought another 32gb ram kit of the same kind, whats the possibility of all 4 slots working at 6400mhz? Board spec shows it's possible (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/M...cification) with single rank sticks.

Not much of upgrade, I have 13700k too, feel like it's still good for 4-5 years lol
