This CyberPower pure sine wave UPS is valued for keeping PCs, routers, modems, NAS gear, and cameras running through brownouts and outages, with automatic shutdown support and enough headroom for higher power builds. The 1000 watt rating stands out versus similar 900 watt units, and the runtime display can help in a pinch. The main cautions are that battery life is often only around three years, runtime estimates can be optimistic, and heavy gaming loads drain it fast. A solid fit if you want short term backup and clean shutdowns.

Common Questions (5)

  • The batteries are commonly expected to last about 3 years, though lifespan can stretch much longer if the unit stays cool and lightly loaded. Age and heat reduce runtime over time, and old batteries can swell and become difficult to remove.

  • Yes. It is reported to handle surges, brownouts, and brief power blips reliably, which helps prevent repeated power cycling that can damage electronics. That protection is especially useful for PCs, NAS devices, and other sensitive gear.

  • Yes. This model is described as a 1000W pure sine wave UPS, which makes it suitable for active PFC power supplies and avoids the overload issues seen on some stepped-sine units. That extra headroom can matter if your PC has a higher power budget.

  • Yes. It can keep a modem and router online so internet stays up during a blackout, and it can also support network gear like switches, NAS units, and cameras. It can additionally trigger an automatic PC shutdown when battery charge reaches a set percentage.

  • The remaining-time display can be overly optimistic, especially under gaming or GPU-heavy loads. Heavy loads drain the battery quickly, so the estimate may be enough only for a clean shutdown or to reach the nearest save point.

I have 3 older CyberPower 1500's, and even with brand new batteries they don't provide power when the AC is disconnected. I've started to buy Lifepo4 UPS-capable power stations instead of lead acid UPSs. I've got around 10 non working lead acid UPSs, and only a couple still working units.

Where do you use them all?
I have 3 in my "network closet" aka my unfinished storage lol

1 for my FIOS connection + main managed switches
1 for my router (opnsense box) + AP + a few small switches + synology
1 for my NVR for the cameras + any POE switches that might tax some of the other UPS

I can probably consolidate it to 2, but I buy/replace one every 5 years or so. After the last one I dont think I have a need for more, so it's really now just about managing the age of the batteries.

This basically allows my internet to stay up during brown or black outs, my cameras + NVR (blue iris) to stay up and finally also my NAS doesn't have to deal with the power blips so the HDD or NAS itself doesnt die

Based on some comments, this is decent/good UPS device. I havent used one before, could someone explain the pros and cons?

I live in an area that has high thunderstorm activity in the spring, summer seasons. If I put my TV, Desktp PC... I avoid surge from a power outage and safely shut them down.

Is that the main benefit? Are there other uses? Thanks for any advice/tips.
It's not just safely shutting them down. If you have times when power cuts in/out multiple times quickly, depending on how the device handles it, you can save it from power cycling multiple times in a row. My synology NAS just died due to this (believe a cap popped) with it cycling 3 times in quick succession

Just think about your PC going on->off->on->off repeatedly. Sometimes electronics will just zap themselves while dealing with that.

Any recommendations?
I got a Goldenmate one for $200 a bit ago. With a 154W load it will supposedly last a little over an hour. The one I got is 1000VA/800W but I think the conversion from Lithium to AC is more efficient than Lead to AC because I would only get 20-30 mins when the Cyberpower one was brand new.

But again, Goldenmate is Chinesium so I have no idea if I'll have the same experience next year. I just got the thing. I don't expect any amount of product support if mine self destructs either. Cyberpower and APC are both good companies for product support.

I've been using one of their 1325va pure sinewave units for over 7 years now and it's still doing perfectly fine!
That's way overdue for a battery change if you haven't already. Don't expect it to keep the power on when you need it most.

Just use a portable power station. Most of them have UPS mode. Many hours of power. Up to 10yr battery life.
I use 2 OUPES Exodus 2400 LFP 2232Wh / 2400W. Got them for $427 each Slickdeal.
One in each mancave. I retired about 10 UPS's.
The one the router modem and several mini PC's and monitors can power them for 40 hours.
The other Exodus 2400 powers a AMD 9950X3D PC, 65" monitor. 4 27" monitors. Denon ATMOS AVR with 8 speakers and 4 subs. A few other devices. This all pulls 550 watts. That can get me 4+ hours. By then I'd connect my Champion 11,000 watt Tri Fuel inverter generator connect to my electric panel with interlock. Powers heat pump using a soft start kit.

Thanks for the feedback. I saw some say that the lifespan of this particular unit is 3 years and then people change batteries or buy another unit. Is that normal for UPS devices? What happens if I keep using them longer than their typical life span... say 5-7years? Would it just drain faster or would it not provide surge protection anymore?
Sorry for the late reply, but this actually sent me down a rabbit hole, lol. I just checked the voltage of my UPS which I've had for ~5 years and still holding perfect, self test was good too.I also saw you can replace the batteries in the unit with 3rd party lifepo4 batteries, but this really comes down to your own risk as the chassis won't know they're lifepo4, it all relies on the battery management system system that's built into the battery. That being said lifepo4 units last much much longer. If it works for your use case the ecoflow river 3 is ~130-150 on eBay and that has a UPS mode and lifepo4 batteries. Like everything there's pros and cons though.I run a NAS and my homelab off of my ups and I have pictures and videos I would hate to lose on there, so I'll probably stick with the normal batteries when I replace them or completely switch to lifepo4.
