Microsoft 365 Family here is mainly valued for the bundled Office apps and 1TB of cloud storage per account, with six terabytes total across the main account and five family members. The code can be stacked or converted in some cases, and the subscription can sometimes be extended with recurring billing promos or by matching plan types carefully. The main cautions are gray market key risk, possible conversion hassles, and the fact that Copilot AI features stay with the main account on Family plans. It is a practical cloud storage and Office bundle if those limits fit your setup.

  • people who already plan to stack multiple years of codes because several commenters report stacking years via Woot/retailers and then adding a final year key, with their coverage converting/upgrading without shortening the term in their experience.

  • households that want Microsoft 365 Family mainly for the included 1TB cloud storage per person because Family is described as 1 main account plus 5 family accounts with 1TB each (6TB total).

  • families where a second person needs Office apps (not just one user) because commenters say Family is worth it once a second person needs the apps or the 1TB cloud storage.

  • buyers who are okay managing redemption details (matching Personal vs Family code types) because one commenter warns mixing Personal and Family can trigger messy conversion choices, and recommends buying the same plan type when possible.

  • people who want a simple "storage value" deal since one commenter frames it as getting about 1TB of storage for roughly $90/year as the main value (forgetting Office apps).

  • workplaces or anyone under strict compliance/audit risk because commenters describe Woot/Groupon/StackSocial keys as gray-market and say they can be blacklisted over time, and one person deleted the purchase due to work audits and the risk.

  • people who are trying to use older perpetual Office licenses instead of Microsoft 365 because commenters note Office 2013/2016 are end-of-support and won't get security updates or technical support, creating security/compatibility risk.

  • households expecting Copilot/AI features for everyone on a Family plan because commenters warn Copilot/AI features are only for the subscription owner on Family plans.

  • buyers who want to apply a different-length code after converting to Premium because one commenter reports a 3-month personal code couldn't be applied after conversion (support said it's a different version), making stacking feel unreliable.

  • people who want to add a full extra 12 months from a Personal code onto a Family subscription because one commenter says you can apply a 1-year Personal code to Family, but it won't add 12 months.

FWIW I stacked several years using this and Newegg nordvpn combos and then added the last year as premium at half off from the main MS page where you add the product keys. It converted all the years to premium earlier this week.
to clarify... you had multiple years of 'standard' stacked and applied, and then you added one year of premium on top... when it converted 'all years', was there a resulting reduction in duration due to conversion to premium? or are you saying that it automatically upgraded all of the stacked years up to premium for free without shortening the duration due to conversion?

Someone's sharing w me the family sub for work. But i believe AI features are only for the main paying user. Is there any way to switch it to me before the expiration?
Also, from time to time im in the need of business version of 365 (powerbi, excel refresh, etc), is there any way to get that on a discount?

dude i thought this was digital delivery? Why do i have to wait til may 11th wtf
Yes it did say estimated arrival May 11th for me as well, but it was 'delivered digitally' in the sense that about 1-1.5 days later it updated my order under 'Stuff you bought' to contain the keys. I just registered/stacked them both and they worked well

For some of us, like me, it's for the 1TB cloud storage.
Yeah, I saw that after my comment. That's a great feature for sure.

Costco has Microsoft 365 Family with Copilot 12 month subscription for $115, plus *Get 3 extra months by adding a payment instrument and agreeing to recurring billing during activation. (But then you can Turn off recurring billing)

So that would be 15 months for $115.
Based on my experience, you can get the same 3 month extension with this Woot deal as well. You just need to let your current plan expire, then use the code. MSFT will offer to add 3 months if you agree to recurring billing. I agreed, then immediately turned it off, still had the extra 3 months.

Main account owns the license. Other accounts you invite get access to the features for the duration the main account owns it. For most households, the decision is simple: Family is worth it once a second person needs Office apps or 1 TB cloud storage.Do not upgrade to Family expecting everyone to get Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook. Microsoft says those AI features are only for the subscription owner on Family plans.
Thank you. Do you remember when there was a license/deal in which one could buy a set of licenses and stack them all simultaneously? I had thought this may have been a precursor to the family plan in which accounts weren't under the same main tenet/account so they could stack - sort of a "buy a 'family' plan of 5 yearly licenses for $X." And you would be given all 5 keys and just keep adding them to a single account so you would get the product for 5 years.

Or perhaps I just bought a single / non-family plan deal 5x and stacked it...

3 points to call out re stacking:1. Buy the same plan type when possible — Family code for Family, Personal code for Personal. Mixing Personal and Family can trigger conversion choices rather than simply adding a clean year (see other posts in this thread how it can get messy). 2. Prefer a real 25-character product key/code from the third party you're buying from. Some retailer "subscription management" versions (See Amazon) may attach the subscription to that retailer account instead of giving you a redeemable Microsoft code, which can make stacking harder or impossible.3. Do not redeem beyond the 5-year cap. If you are close to 5 years, wait until enough time has passed before adding another annual code.

It's been available for quite some time. I bought 3 last month on Woot. After ordering, the codes were in my inbox around 3 hours. It says the order is coming and the tracking number is the key.
I did stack some promo credit card offers and good for almost 5 years now.

If I remember correctly, you can use 1 Year 365 Personal codes and apply it to a 365 Family, but it won't add 12 months

Microsoft does still offer perpetual licenses and there will be no catch if you purchase them from Microsoft or licensed distributors.
However, the ones sold on Woot, Groupon, StackSocial, etc. are gray market keys, and will eventually be blacklisted.
Why make things up when you don't know what you're talking about? I've bought keys for myself and recommended to others from third party sites and have Never had or heard of a single key blacklisted. I'm sure there are places you can go to get sketchier keys, but these sites you're mentioning are not it. So why are you spouting nonsense?
