This refurbished EcoFlow River 3 Plus bundle stands out as a compact backup and off grid power station for routers, small fridges, sheds, camping, and short outages. The app and wireless connection are praised for being seamless, with plenty of settings and instant capacity recognition. Real world use includes running a refrigerator in a truck, a router and HomeBase during outages, and yard tool batteries from solar panels. The main cautions are the limited USB C port count, the small size for bigger loads, and a few refurb condition concerns. A practical pick when you need portable power more than whole home backup.
Common Questions (5)
It can run a refrigerator in a truck, power a projector for movie night, light a driveway for trick-or-treaters, and charge yard-tool batteries from solar panels. It is also useful for camping, day trips, and off-grid travel.
Yes, it can be used as a UPS for a work-from-home setup and for network gear like a router or HomeBase 3. The app also supports fine-tuning settings, which helps when using it as always-on backup power.
Some refurbished units have arrived looking brand new with only 2-3 power cycles, while others have arrived with visible grime or unknown liquid on the bottom. Checking the unit immediately on arrival is important.
A router can run about 9 hours through the AC inverter path or about 14 hours through the PD/DC-to-DC path, which is more efficient. It has also been used to keep a router and Eufy HomeBase 3 running during power outages.
It comes with a 2-year warranty from Allstate. That makes the refurb option less risky if you want coverage beyond the seller's return window.

Normal day-2-day it's used it to power my Asus router via the PD slot. Don't even use the AC inverter.
Using the AC port - > 19v ASUS dc power adapter -> router = 9hrs runtime
Using the PD port --> 19v trigger cable -> router = 14hrs runtime
it's more efficient going DC to DC vs DC to AC to DC
I picked up a refurb'd unit last year, it only had 2 or 3 power cycles on it, like new for about this much.
