This refurbished EcoFlow River 3 Plus bundle stands out as a compact backup and off grid power station for routers, small fridges, sheds, camping, and short outages. The app and wireless connection are praised for being seamless, with plenty of settings and instant capacity recognition. Real world use includes running a refrigerator in a truck, a router and HomeBase during outages, and yard tool batteries from solar panels. The main cautions are the limited USB C port count, the small size for bigger loads, and a few refurb condition concerns. A practical pick when you need portable power more than whole home backup.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can run a refrigerator in a truck, power a projector for movie night, light a driveway for trick-or-treaters, and charge yard-tool batteries from solar panels. It is also useful for camping, day trips, and off-grid travel.

  • Yes, it can be used as a UPS for a work-from-home setup and for network gear like a router or HomeBase 3. The app also supports fine-tuning settings, which helps when using it as always-on backup power.

  • Some refurbished units have arrived looking brand new with only 2-3 power cycles, while others have arrived with visible grime or unknown liquid on the bottom. Checking the unit immediately on arrival is important.

  • A router can run about 9 hours through the AC inverter path or about 14 hours through the PD/DC-to-DC path, which is more efficient. It has also been used to keep a router and Eufy HomeBase 3 running during power outages.

  • It comes with a 2-year warranty from Allstate. That makes the refurb option less risky if you want coverage beyond the seller's return window.

good little guy.Normal day-2-day it's used it to power my Asus router via the PD slot. Don't even use the AC inverter.Using the AC port - > 19v ASUS dc power adapter -> router = 9hrs runtimeUsing the PD port --> 19v trigger cable -> router = 14hrs runtimeit's more efficient going DC to DC vs DC to AC to DCI picked up a refurb'd unit last year, it only had 2 or 3 power cycles on it, like new for about this much.
12v trigger maybe better for a short cable?

assuming a 12v LiFePO4 and router supports 12v

Grabbed one. Hopefully "certified refurbished" is good condition. This will be my first power station after dabbling in some light 12v solar/battery stuff.
You will quickly find uses for it. I have used mine to power a projector for movie night in the woods. I setup lamps at the end of the driveway for trick or treaters etc... More than just backup in power outtage

I have one of these that I use as a UPS for my work from home setup. Just a warning - once you have this small one you will want the bigger ones for other things. Now I've got the Delta 3 Plus as the UPS for my server rack, and a Delta 3 Max as the backup power for my sump pump, water heater (gas), furnace (gas), and whatever else I might need to plug into it during an outage. The solar XT60i inputs on the back of all these let you extend the runtime with generic batteries, and then you can fire up a portable generator to top them all up every few hours if the outage goes long.
My problem is I want a battery setup for a hurricane power outage to run a small window AC and fridge. So that's about 1700 running watts when both are running. I did some math and I'd need like a 5-6kWh battery setup with like 600-800w of solar and that's just so much pricier than a quiet 5kw inverter generator.

Neither of those things need to run 24/7 once the area they're cooling is cooled down. Get a power meter and check to see how much electricity your window AC or fridge uses over 24 hours. You can also do things like fill empty fridge space with water to store more "cold" and slow down the warming of the fridge. Fridges heat their exteriors to cool themselves, so your AC won't have to run as much, too.

We don't get many hurricanes in Virginia and by the time any do get here they've mostly died out. It's also not hot enough that I have to plan to run an air conditioner during an outage. I suppose the family could hang out in my EV with the 82kWh battery if we really needed to cool off. The problem here is cold freezing pipes if the power goes out in winter, so as long as I can run the blower for my natural gas furnace I'm good.
Sounds like you need a lot more electric power for your climate in order to be comfortable.

so far this year , 2. one was a 18 hour outage and I lost all the food in my fridge. Thankfully purchased a bigger power station and backup generator to make sure that never happens again.
Where y'all live?? My last power outage was 2011! For trips off grid this would be great

A single USB-C port is a joke on a device like this.

I have one of these in my shed for charging my yard tool batteries. I have a pair of 235W panels attached to it and it works really well. I was tempted to get the extra battery but at this price getting a second unit almost seems better!

Don't get it! I just got it and it was nasty with unknown liquid on the bottom half! I'd be surprised that they even check it before reselling it as a refurbished!
