Community Reviews
KitchenAid's new fully automatic espresso machine is positioned as a smaller, more accessible step below the KF6, KF7, and KF8, with an updated design and iced coffee or cold brew capability. Setup is straightforward, and the machine can make a decent regular coffee right out of the box after the required startup shots. The small, non removable bean hopper is the main drawback called out so far. Deal pricing also appears to have shifted, with discount stacking changing and order status or cancellation issues making checkout less smooth.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. The KF4 is positioned below the KF6, KF7, and KF8 with a smaller footprint and a lower price point. It is also described as having an updated design, with iced coffee or cold brew as an added feature.
Yes. The discount initially stacked to a much larger amount, but later only applied as an additional 20% off the discounted price, bringing the machine to about $520 instead of the earlier lower price. Some orders placed at the lower price were still pending shipment.
No. The site can block online cancellation and direct you to call support instead, and even then cancellation may not go through before shipment. If you need to return it, a prepaid label may be required and the refund can take 6-8 weeks.
Setup is straightforward, but it requires brewing 4 espresso shots before you can start using it normally. After that, regular coffee can taste good right out of the box, and the machine recommends 4-5 coffee-based drinks before making milk drinks.
No. The bean hopper is small and non-removable, which is the main drawback noted so far. That matters if you want easier refilling or cleaning.

I thought I had read about this line coming out, but that it wasn't shipping yet; there are already reviews for these on the site.

I haven't seen any reviews or even impressions yet so taking a bit of a flyer on it. Even though they are smaller and the MSRP is less expensive than the previous models it doesn't seem to be missing any features. The addition of cold brew may be a bonus for some.
Personally, I think the smaller footprint and updated design is nice.
