Note that this doesn't have a discrete GPU. While the Radeon 8060S is pretty decent, it seems like a significant omission from a high end workstation class laptop like this.
If it did, it wouldn't be $3000 with those specs. Don't let "integrated" fool you, the 8060S sits between RTX 4060 and 4070 so if you plan on gaming with this (although not being a gaming laptop) you can play even modern titles at the highest settings at FHD resolution; it can run AI models very easily, and much more. So, 8060S is no slouch by any means, and considering this has 128GB highest speed RAM, the 8060S will perform quite well.

This is probably a better version of Asus Rog flow z13 128gb version which I have. The Hp one above is now priced correctly for the product. Mainly used as a local LLM playground, the unified 128gb RAM can be used for good gaming too. 96gb can be used as video memory in the ASUS ROG, I would buy this instead of z13 for the price. Good deal op!

Best laptop I've owned. Build quality is fantastic. I picked up a refurb with allstate warranty on ebay for about this price. Use it for llm and agent demos, light gaming. Runs off pd 3.1 140w (picky on chargers though), great screen with vrr.

Ai max support is getting better, don't expect a ton of speed but you can run oss 122 and ~27-30b models with lots of context. My only complaint is hp seems slow on drivers, best drivers are from Sept of last year. As the mini desktops have gone to 2600+ this is a nice deal if in the market

Yep, this is a local LLM laptop. It has a ton of RAM connected to the GPU which means it can run big models, but because that RAM is relatively slow you'll max out your tokens/sec pretty quickly. So you're better off with an Experts model that doesn't activate all its nodes, or run multiple models that aren't all active at once.
Also note that this is a Pro model with ECC, for those for which that's important. Although that might impact your RAM usage.
the most comparable laptop I know of is the Asus ProArt PX13 GoPro Edition, which goes for around this price but isn't ECC.

What kind of agent and LLM demos do you do?

while it would be capable gaming, its not for gaming. This integrated "graphics" shares VRAM with system ram, so you essentially have 120GB of VRAM for AI compute tasks, like running a 100Billion+ parameter AI model locally instead of paying for each query on a cloud service. a high end 16gb discrete card would only be able to run a 32B param AI model without struggling. It might not be fast, but it has a wide variety of uses that is better than a traditional desktop or a 14,000$ + server.

You'd probably be happy to hear that the flow z13 tends to perform better than this HP zbook in most of the AI benchmarks I've seen. Could be because this is the pro version, which is a bit slower (with the upside of ecc RAM.)

Thank you OP. I live in the Philly burbs and it was sold out at my local store. A few in stock at the NY stores 2 hours away. I found an "open-box incomplete" 2 hours the opposite direction in Maryland. Decided to risk it and make the drive. I asked to look at it and dude said he can open it and show me but wouldn't let me touch. Got back and looked to be in excellent condition to me. Came with a 140 W USB C charger. Paid $2,249.96 plus $150 tax.
