Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds are being praised for strong active noise cancellation, rich sound, and a secure, comfortable fit, with the charging case adding battery info and settings control. The Gen 1 Costco version is confirmed here, and it does not include wireless charging. The main cautions are connection quirks, especially with multipoint or the Bose app, plus reports of a left earbud static buzz, occasional charging or call issues, and a few fit or durability complaints. A solid pick if top tier noise blocking matters more than extra features.

Common Questions (5)

  • Connection problems can happen, especially with multipoint or when pairing to both a Windows laptop and an iPhone. Turning multipoint off or using a single Bluetooth connection can make them solid, and uninstalling the Bose app has also fixed connection issues for some setups.

  • The ANC is described as top notch and among the best available, with strong isolation for music and aircraft use. The earbuds are designed to block outside sound rather than let surroundings through.

  • This Costco deal is for Gen 1, not Gen 2. Several comments also note that Gen 1 and Gen 2 sound very similar, so the main difference here is the generation and included features rather than a major audio upgrade.

  • No wireless charging is included on this Gen 1 Costco set. The charging case instead has a screen that shows battery life and lets you change settings.

  • They do have a microphone for calls, but call quality can be poor enough that other people may not hear you well. That makes them less reliable for voice calls than for music and noise cancellation.

I've tried both. Although the XM5s take some playing around to get a good fit for noise cancelling, their sound and app EQ was better than the Bose for me. The Bose was more comfortable feel wise, but for some reason they would get pretty hot when noise cancelling was on which meant I could only wear them for an hour or so. Ultimately I went with the XM5s.
Appreciate the feedback!

I like the Case, is it practical?
My friend likes the case. It shows battery life and lets you change settings. I'd probably prefer a smaller case without a screen tbh…

I purchased a pair from Dell for $256 and after about 6 months, it started to developed a scratchy noise. Returned under warranty back to Bose. The new pair developed the same problem. Volume was low, even though I had it at the highest setting, then the scratchy noise came back in the background, while listening to music. I was very surprised that such good brand and expensive earbuds can perform so poorly. They just sit at home and I rarely use them. It's not an enjoyable listening experience. I would not recommend.
Try uninstalling the bose connect app in your phone. It fixed mine by doing so. Just connect directly.

I'm a big Bose fan. I have the gen 1 and the gen 2 of these earbuds. Both have great noise cancellation and audio quality. However, both also have a big design flaw - they output a static / buzzing sound on the left earbud that can be heard when no audio is playing. I've reported this to Bose multiple times and the customer service reps acknowledge this is a know issue. It bothers me, but, it may not bother you.
Try uninstalling the bose app after you set your settings. Just connect to bluetooth directly.

Mine are practically unusable for calls. No one can hear me. Is this common?
