Sta-Green Premium Mulch is a budget mulch deal that stands out for the 2 cubic foot bags, especially if you can pick it up or get free delivery on six bags or fewer. The larger chunks help it stay put better than finer mulch, and the colored mulch looks good around the house. The main knocks are inconsistent bag quality, with reports of mold, water damage, light black color, or chunky pieces, and delivery can be canceled when orders go past the free limit. A practical option if you want coverage and can work within the pickup or delivery rules.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. Free delivery appears to apply to 6 bags or fewer; adding a 7th bag can trigger a delivery charge, and larger orders may switch to a paid delivery option. Several orders of a second 6-bag batch were also canceled immediately, so the free-delivery workaround is not reliable.
The mulch is described as decent and made of larger chunks that tend to stay put better than finer mulch. A caveat is that some bags can be light in color, waterlogged, moldy, or contain rips, so picking bags in person can help.
Yes. Store pickup is a practical way to avoid delivery charges and save money, especially if you need more than the free-delivery limit. Picking it up also lets you inspect bags for mold, rips, or color issues before loading them.
Yes. These Sta-Green bags are 2 cubic feet, while the Scotts mulch mentioned for comparison is 1.5 cubic feet. That means each Sta-Green bag covers more area per bag.
The black version can look lighter than expected, with one report saying it was so light it was barely brown. If you want a very dark black mulch, it may be worth checking the bags in person before buying.
