Community Reviews
This 4 spool Creality dryer is aimed at keeping moisture sensitive filament ready for multicolor or high volume printing, especially PETG, TPU, ABS, and even PLA in humid rooms. The dual chambers let multiple rolls dry at once, which fits the dry then vacuum seal workflow. The X4L version is the Lite model with a 75 C maximum, while the X4 reaches 85 C and adds features like active dehumidification and mixed filament support. A cheaper open box X4L and a similar 85 C model were also noted.
A dual 4-spool dryer can keep multiple spools ready for continuous multicolor or high-volume printing workflows.
A dryer is especially useful for PETG, TPU, and ABS because moisture can ruin print quality without drying.
The dryer can reach higher drying temperatures and supports drying multiple rolls before vacuum sealing.
The X4L Lite version still reaches 75°C, which can be sufficient for users who do not require 85°C drying.
The X4L Lite version tops out at 75°C, so it may not meet needs that require 85°C drying.
PLA can still degrade in humid conditions, so skipping a dryer can lead to lumpy prints and clogged print heads.
The dual-bay setup may be less compelling than using multiple single-bay dryers if capacity is the only advantage.
Skepticism exists about Creality dryer quality due to limited reviews and past product experiences.

If you plan to print anything other than PLA -> get a dryer. PETG, TPU, ABS all are very sensitive to moisture and print terrible without one
If you live somewhere with high humidity -> get a dryer. Even PLA will start to degrade after a few days if left out in a moist environment like here inbl the PNW
If you plan to print multicolor models or print a lot, then get a multi-spool dryer. That way, you can have the second spool dry and ready when the first one in the other bay runs out.

Biggest differences are:
- Display differences - X4: touchscreen // X4L: non-touch display
- Important features if you need them: X4 increases max temp to 85°C over 75°C in X4L, adds Active Dehumidification, Mixed Filament Support, Auto Silent Mode
- Mostly irrelevant features: X4 adds Custom Presets, Beep Reminder, Fan Self-Diagnosis, Upgradeable Firmware.
Here's the comparison breakdown I found: https://investegate.de/creality-s...x4-vs-x4l/
For my use cases, specifically mixed filament support and max temp, it makes sense to try for the X4 instead.

Oh, nice. I picked up an open box X4 for $128, same store
Edit: I canceled that. It was $1 more for a new one, same seller
