This portable steam sauna is a compact at home steam setup that gets hot fast and can deliver a strong sweat for far less than a full sauna. Setup is simple, and the unit can be satisfying for regular steam sessions when used with distilled water and dried out after each use. The main drawbacks are its bulky footprint, awkward hose placement, and ongoing cleaning and drying chores. Mold, residue, rust, and even melting or cracking parts are all reported concerns, so it works best if you are diligent about maintenance and returns.
Common Questions (5)
It can develop mold if it is not cleaned and dried carefully, especially if stored damp or outdoors. Distilled water helps reduce residue, and users recommend opening it up to air-dry overnight and cleaning it regularly; bleach on a gentle wash cycle is also suggested for the washable parts.
It gets very hot on higher settings: level 3 is described as unbearable for some people, while others can stay in it about 20 to 30 minutes. The 135°F setting is also described as more like a steam shower than a traditional sauna, with 160°F suggested as a more meaningful sauna temperature.
The black version is priced higher, but the beige and black units are described as the same product aside from fabric color. One comment also notes the $99 deal corresponds to a different item number than the black $179 version.
Costco's return policy makes the risk easier to manage if the unit develops problems such as melting plastic, cracking lids, rusting reservoirs, or mold. Several comments suggest keeping the receipt and treating it as a returnable purchase if it dies.
It needs about a 3' x 3' footprint and the hose/port placement can make it awkward to position, since the back opening prevents pushing it flush against a wall or corner. It is also described as very space-consuming overall.

So far, it's been great and absolutely worth the money. Cleaning hasn't been difficult either. I use Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day Vinegar Gel Cleaning Spray to wipe everything down.
My only real complaint is the chair it comes with. I'm not a big fan of it, so I'm planning to switch to a teakwood bench, which seems to be a better option for sauna use and easier to clean.
Absolutely worth it for $100, no regrets at $200.
