Anchor Hocking's 2 cup glass measuring cup is a sturdy, heavier alternative to plastic or Pyrex, with long term durability and a size that works well for everyday measuring, tea, coffee, protein shakes, and even home brewing. The cup is praised for being well made, and the markings are easy to read for common kitchen conversions. The main cautions are pouring and calibration, since the lip can send liquid down the outside and some markings have been reported as off or inconsistent. It is a solid basic measuring cup if you check the graduations before relying on it.

Common Questions (3)

  • The pour lip can cause liquid to run down the outside instead of into the bowl, and the tip is not very pointy for a slow, clean pour. A spoon or chopstick can help guide the stream more cleanly.

  • It can work as a replacement, but Pyrex has sharper, more durable markings. Anchor Hocking cups are thicker and heavier, and the markings may be easier to scratch off or vary between cups, so it is worth comparing it against a known-good measuring cup.

  • It is reported to hold up well over years of use, with owners keeping one for a decade or more. The cup is described as thick and heavy, which helps it feel sturdy in daily kitchen use.

I don't know if this a good deal or not but I did want to say f*** these things. Why put a lip on them when 90% of the time the damn liquid flows down the cup, making you miss the bowl? I just don't get how it is this one thing in my kitchen that makes the most mess, the plastic one I have never does it.

I can see that. The tip isn't pointy enough for a clean slow pour.

I don't have your issue, but look up the "spoon pouring trick" which is basically the same as the chemist technique of using a glass rod to pour between two beakers.

Personally I use a chopstick.

Are we not going to talk about the 8 gallon measuring cup as a different size option?

I wonder who's gonna believe a 2 cup measuring cup is worth $14?

Is this a good replacement for a pyrex that has had the markings washed/faded out?

Sounds like user error.

Ill be that guy for this thread, what's the difference between this and a Temu one (assuming the measurement markings are correct). I mean fun fact that well known brands dont even have accurate measurements either.

Glass is glass (for the most part, not talking about crystal wine glasses), right? Borosilicate vs Soda Lime is also a thing but not something that actually matters imo. I bit into the whole PYREX > pyrex thing at the start but I've just concluded that its overblown.

I'm no kitchen wizard, and I've never had a problem using these. I really doubt 90% of the people using this has trouble with it. Sounds more like user error or something. I dunno but they really aren't that hard to pour. Good grief.

Me neither. I have no idea where he gets this 90% figure. These aren't hard to pour.

Yes. The Pyrex has sharper markings, but this works just fine. I have both
