I suggest getting the machine and grinder separately, gives you far more range and if one breaks you can keep using the other
One of those plus an Encore ESP is cheaper overall and you can use the extra to buy a tamping station and better tamp
All their machines are set to 93* C, which is a good mid point for dark and medium roast but if you are going to do light or light-med roasts you might want to play with that setting
Community Reviews
The Barista Express is a long-running entry-level espresso machine that makes café-style drinks at home and has a strong reputation for durability. The built-in grinder, front pressure gauge, and polished design are major draws, and the machine is praised for saving a lot versus coffee shop drinks. The older thermocoil heating system is slower than newer Breville models, and steaming milk can feel sluggish. It also takes some dialing in and maintenance, so it suits buyers who want an all-in-one starter machine and do not mind a learning curve.
Home espresso beginners wanting an all-in-one starter machine, because it makes good coffee and has a built-in grinder for learning the basics.
Daily latte drinkers who want café-style drinks at home, because it can handle years of repeated use and the drinks cost far less than coffee shop prices.
Owners willing to learn dialing in and maintenance, because the machine rewards technique and can produce good coffee once adjusted.
Shoppers who value a classic countertop look, because the front gauge placement and exterior design make it feel like a solid espresso machine.
Shoppers expecting a plug-and-play grinder setup, because the built-in grinder can be hard to dial in and may not make impressive coffee.
People who want fast milk steaming, because steaming can take 45 seconds to a minute and feels slow in daily use.
Light-roast drinkers who want easy temperature tuning, because the fixed brew temperature may need adjustment for lighter beans.
Buyers comparing against newer machines with faster startup, because the thermocoil system takes about 30 to 40 seconds to heat and switch modes.

I've gone really deep down the coffee rabbit hole since buying my espresso machine. If you want some REALLY good beans, look up Onyx coffee roasters. They are constantly rated amongst the best coffee roasters in the world. My favorite of their beans is their "tropical weather." It is pricey, but I finally understood specialty coffee after trying their coffee beans. It is really unique experience drinking a coffee with an almost tea/floral taste. If you want to go down the rabbit hole yourself, I'd suggest googling "reddit best coffee beans" and reading through some threads.
