I should have started with this instead of ad5m.

Don't beat yourself up and learn some quality printing fundamentals. Tweak your settings, play around with orca or a different slicer. Learn fusion 360. Before you know it, this printer will be <$200.

I've added a conch nozzle to mine, finished the enclosure. Now I have a nice little PETG-CF machine to print functional parts.

I've had this for about 3 weeks now (new to 3d printing). I built the enclosure, got the camera, this little thing is pretty solid. Word to the wise though, the default build speeds are set a little to high, generally I stick to around 100mm for outer and 250mm for inner and I haven't had a messed up print yet. PETG and PLA is what I have used so far. If you are on the fence, get it, because this will get you into multi color prints, provide high quality prints, that being said it does waste some filament because its a single head but by the time you hit a break even point, you will know everything you need to know to buy the best printer to fit your needs.

I bought it at this price a couple weeks ago and have been extremely happy. I'm brand new to 3D printing as well, and I don't think you can do any better than this to start with unless you spent a lot more money on a Bambu. If you're just starting out, there are a ton of YouTube tutorials to get you started with the included Orca slicing program. Printables . com has a ton of free files to get you started.

I bought this a bit cheaper awhile back and definitely would recommend it for a multi-color printer at this price point. I ended up buying a Snapmaker U1 because of the multiple toolheads afterwards, if you have the budget for that - I'd go directly to that.

Just bought one direct on eBay. Seems safer and easier than dealing with ali.

eBay doesn't give as much cash back as AE does, however.

I got AD5X as my first 3D printer a few weeks ago and realized I should have bought the AD5M.

This is absolutely one of the best intro printers nowadays! Bought mine at the end of the year to replace my ender 3, quality of life improvements are crazy! Definitely miss the AI recognition/stop software that bambulab has, would have saved me some failed prints, and did have 2 issues with nozzle getting clogged, which is not an easy fix but manageable. Now already have more than 800 hrs and going, the 4 color change is crazy good!!! Highly recommend!

Snapmaker u1 isn't a bad price for being a 4 head tool changer when you factor in filament savings and it's a great machine

Why is that? I got the AD5M froma. Few weeks ago deal and I'm happy with it, yes, multicolor is more convenient, you can do multiple colors on the 5M but it is more leg work, but doable depending on the design, you are limited. If it goes down to $256 like a few weeks ago I may jump for one, or wait until black Friday for the Creator 5 instead.

I have a P2S combo. I feel like multicolor without tool changing is overrated. I can't get myself to justify tripling my filament use and print time to print in multiple colors unless its something real special. My primary use for multicolor is the convenience of having 4 colors ready without having to swap myself. That said, this being only a bit over $100 more than the AD5X seems like a reasonable price for the option.
