Dawn Platinum Plus Powerwash is a versatile spray cleaner that cuts grease fast on hands, stainless steel, oven surfaces, car wheels, classroom desks, and even engine bays. It is especially handy for quick cleanup after messy repair work, and the spray format makes it hard to go back to regular dish liquid. The main caveat is price and usage, since it can go through quickly and feels worthwhile mostly when the coupon or sale brings it near the low three dollar range. A practical grab if you want a strong all purpose degreaser in spray form.
Common Questions (5)
The deal is considered worthwhile mainly because the price lands around $3 to $3.55 after coupon and Subscribe & Save, which is close to Home Depot pricing. At the regular $9 price it's viewed as too expensive, and the coupon may disappear or the item may go out of stock.
Yes, it's used successfully on stainless steel, car wheels with a drill brush, ovens, and classroom desks. It's also described as useful for "about anything you can rinse off," which makes it a broad-purpose spray cleaner.
It works well as a moderate degreaser for general cleanup, including greasy hands and engine-bay messes. It can be less effective than a dedicated engine degreaser, but it still cuts grease quickly and may need only a small amount per use.
Yes, a DIY mix uses isopropyl alcohol, Dawn dish soap, and water, with distilled or filtered water preferred. The homemade version can work well and cost less, but the real product cleans faster and better; mixing water first and soap last helps reduce bubbles.
One bottle can last about 70 days for a household using it regularly. It also tends to go a long way because only a small squeeze is needed for many cleaning jobs.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank
1-2oz isopropyl alcohol
2-3oz dawn dish soap
12-14oz water (distilled being better)
I used to make home made version when I run out, but it doesn't clean as well or as quickly as the real stuff. The only benefit is the homemade version doesn't have strong fumes.
These days I just pick up the refill packs at Costco when on sale or when Amazon has good deals since the real stuff just works better.
