You dont NEED to use any of it, but its there, and its pretty reliable.
And lets face it, paying $70ish dollars for a 'Brushless' fan is a pretty great deal all on its own - these things run for years and years and they are super quiet.
Community Reviews
DREO's TurboPoly pedestal fan stands out as a quiet, brushless DC fan with strong airflow, useful oscillation control, and a remote that covers most needs without opening the app. The smart features add scheduling, temperature based control, and app steering, while the non smart version is still appealing for anyone who just wants a traditional fan. At max speed it gets louder, the warranty is only one year, and the shortest timer setting is one hour. Overall, it reads as a capable bedroom fan with more control than a basic pedestal model.
Common Questions (5)
The 353 is described as the non-smart version, while the 551 is suggested as the closest Amazon equivalent and is listed with an 8-inch blade. The smart 350S/other smart DREO models add app features, but the non-smart version avoids needing an app.
It is not app-only; it comes with a traditional remote, and the app adds extra controls like oscillation angle and center-point adjustment. The remote can handle fan speed, timer, and horizontal oscillation without installing the app.
It is reported to be very quiet at lower speeds and smooth in operation, with level 2 enough for a bedroom. At max speed it gets louder, but still moves a lot of air; one measurement put total max draw around 35 watts with oscillation enabled.
The app can schedule speed changes through the day and night, set on/off by clock or temperature, program oscillation ranges, and steer the fan remotely to aim it. Those features are optional, so the fan still works normally with the remote if you do not want to use the app.
Measured power use is very low at the bottom end, around 0.61 watts off and about 2.6 watts on speed 1. It rises to about 19.6 watts on speed 9, around 30 watts at max, and roughly 35 watts total with oscillation enabled.

Also.. go smart if using in a bedroom and you already have a smart home. Being able to adjust the fan speed without opening your eyes is the bees knees.
