Can I hack this so I can return the impact driver and keep the batteries? Doesn't look like it as it's not a free gift. Can anyone confirm please?

Is this powerful enough to remove lug nuts from a car tire? Would I need a 1/2" Hex Impact Driver for that?

Lots of people use this impact driver to pull and install lug nuts on cars. But it`s not ideal for the ones that are really torqued or rusted on and may not work. As always, YMMV.

From a small commuter car, when they're not seized on? Probably. But this is not designed for that, you want an impact WRENCH not driver. M12 impact wrench stubby and battery combo fits your bill. Can be 3/8, or 1/2.

If the battery is not an issue, there`s also Front Page deal on the Atomic 1/2 Inch Drive Impact Wrench (DCF921B) with battery and charger for $229.

No. This deal is a bundle and will show up as one item on the receipt. You need a non-bundle deal, like buy the batteries and get a free tool. For those, each item shows up priced separately and you can do the "hack" and keep one and return the other.

As others have mentioned you need an impact wrench for that. An impact wrench will have an anvil that will typically be 1/2" or 3/8" that will fit sockets made for those sizes (you will want impact sockets because regular ones might break when using an impact wrench). An impact wrench is what you want for large bolts/nuts on a car . An impact driver, which is what this is, is similar to a drill with a quick connect collett on the end. It's really just a drill with a hammering action and often higher torque that is good for putting screws and lag bolts without stripping as easily. You can drive bolts with it but the torque won't be very high so it's only good for small to medium fasteners (lug nuts would be a bit much for something like this). It's nice to have if you do stuff like decking often but most people will just get by with a drill.
