About this eBook:
- A Confederacy of Dunces is an American comic masterpiece. John Kennedy Toole's hero, one Ignatius J. Reilly, is "huge, obese, fractious, fastidious, a latter-day Gargantua, a Don Quixote of the French Quarter. His story bursts with wholly original characters, denizens of New Orleans' lower depths, incredibly true-to-life dialogue, and the zaniest series of high and low comic adventures" (Henry Kisor, Chicago Sun-Times).

A Confederacy of Dunces is a classic comic novel that lands as a genuinely funny, often masterpiece level read. The story builds thread after thread until everything comes together, and Toole's New Orleans descriptions are vivid enough to make the city feel immediate even when place names have changed. It also carries a notable posthumous publication story behind it. The main caveat is that the humor may read as funny rather than outright hilarious for some readers, but it remains a memorable, re readable classic.
Readers who want a sharply funny literary classic, because it is repeatedly described as really funny and worth reading.
People who like re-reading favorites on Kindle, because the book is worth owning again in digital form.
Fans of layered novels that pay off later, because the story builds thread after thread before everything comes together.
New Orleans visitors who want a city-specific read, because its descriptions still make the streets and landmarks feel recognizable.
Readers expecting nonstop slapstick, because it is funny but not described as hilarious by everyone who read it.
People who want a quick, lightweight plot, because the novel spends time building many threads before they converge.
