Is this tool worth it? Or is there benefit on waiting for the brushless model?

Brushless are more efficient and will allow the battery to last longer. For a DIYer with one or two batteries, brushless is not a necessity.

I have this model. It's great for a homeowner, DIY-er (i.e. non-daily use professional). Ryobi also sells a sanding attachment for this whereby this can also act as a corner cat finishing sander, albeit without random orbital movement.

The brushless has a tool-less attachment changer. This one needs an Allen key.

I have both. I bought the brushless because the Allen key method sucks. Especially when you are working and you want to change the angle of the blade and you need to stop and grab an Allen key.

Power your entire RYOBI 18V ONE+ collection with longer runtime and enhanced performance using the RYOBI 18V ONE+ 4Ah & 2Ah Lithium HIGH PERFORMANCE Starter Kit. IntelliCell Electronics, a smarter power and runtime management system, maximizes performance to keep your tools performing at their best, even during demanding use. The COOL-CORE heat management system regulates pack temperature to keep it running cooler and maintain consistent output during use. A durable pack design with anti-vibration technology adds protection against impacts and everyday wear, whether you're on the job or working around the house. A high-visibility LED fuel gauge clearly displays remaining runtime so you can stay productive without interruptions. Pair this Lithium HIGH PERFORMANCE battery with any 18V ONE+ HP tool to leverage high performance brushless motors and advanced electronics for more power, longer runtime and the overall best experience on the 18V ONE+ system. The included charger allows you to recharge your batteries and quickly move on to the next project. Part of the RYOBI ONE+ system – any 18V ONE+ battery works with any 18V ONE+ product. This 18V ONE+ 4Ah & 2Ah Lithium HIGH PERFORMANCE Starter Kit is backed by the RYOBI 3-year manufacturer's warranty and includes (1) 18V 4Ah Lithium HIGH PERFORMANCE Battery, (1) 18V 2Ah Lithium HIGH PERFORMANCE Battery, Charger, and 18V ONE+ Cordless Oscillating Multi-Tool.

I agree with this take - I have the basic style with the Allen key and would go brushless if I had the choice to make again

Hopefully, the power switch works better than mine does. Sometimes, I have to pull the battery out.

I'm a homeowner / diy guy / handyman. I hate this thing. It sucks, I would get the HP brushless with the quick change if I could go back in time. I still might just pay full price for it. Save yourself the headache unless your using this once or twice a year.
