If you have the Amex Offer, remember that it stacks on top of sale prices. $45 back on $150+ purchase.

These fall under "buy for life" for build quality, design, practicality, and support/warranty. I bought mine almost 10 years ago, use it daily, and have traveled the world with it — it easily carries 40+ lbs of gear without a complaint. Cost-per-use math has been pretty hard to beat.

The Thumbnail is of the 18L model. That does not have a current discount. Seems the larger the bag, the lower the price.

Just because I'm wearing something doesn't mean I'm asking for it

$330 list for a backpack seems a couple of orders of magnitude greater than outrageous!

I looked at the website and everything seems overpriced. But I suppose these prices are necessary to allow the company to carry out its mission, which is stated as:

"We exist to build happy and meaningful lives for the people that work here."

I kind of always thought that companies existed to service customers and provide a potential customers with a positive buying experience. But perhaps this is old school, non-Gen Y thinking?

There are a number of bags that fall under similar build quality, usefulness, and lifetime warranty that do not claim to be $300+. Hope you had gotten it for much less than the MSRP.
I did

Peak Design is generally considered high quality and often a choice for serious photographers.

Show me one. I paid near this much for my Black Ember when it was on sale. I paid near that much for the Swiss Gear bag I had before that, and that lasted me 25+ years. I am 100% sure there are cheaper bags that will probably work well for most people, and I am sure the average person doesn't care about buying for durability. If that's you, then don't buy this bag. It's not marketed to you. If you do want something that is a bit better engineered and more solidly put together, then this might be for you.

North Face Surge is under $100 when on sale, regular price of $150. Higher end, Incase Icon are regularly $150-$199. If you're into the sustainable aspects, Cotopaxi have a range of backpacks that are largely under $200. Even Patagonia's are generally under $200 and fall into the $150 range on moderate sales.
I use and love the Peak camera straps and even supported some of their Kickstarters. Their phone case system is definitely cool and useful, but their backpacks are overpriced.

North face makes really good backpack. Their backpack rank in the top 3 in project farm testing.
